Bosch Super 4 spark plugs.
« on: 19 February 2020, 16:29:02 »

Are the Bosch super 4 spark plugs a standard fit for the 3.0 and 3.2 engines. Bloody ebay is getting right on my wick....because sellers claim that  they are suitable for both engines, but using the compatibility charts they say OK for the 3.0 but not the 3.2.Why do these people set themselves up in a business, but appear to be unable to answer a query. >:( >:(  TIA :y

The four pole plugs were introduced so that the service interval could be stretched to keep the cost of ownership down for fleet buyers. Likewise with the sealed for life transmission fluid etc. Keeps the costs down in the first three years and push it into year 4 and beyond. They do nothing for performance or fuel economy. So unless you intend to leave them in for a theoretical 80k miles then just use the standard Bosch 2 pole plugs FLR8LDCU+.

In any event the standard Bosch Super 4 for Omegas were superseded by FG48KQE0. Actually any of the Bosch plugs specified for an Omega will work in any model petrol Omega.

Thanks....yeah I'm going to give up on chasing my tail with ebay,it's becoming apparent that a lot of the sellers are just minders, and don't have an in depth knowledge of their products. I'll just go with your advice and stick with what's truly suitable for my cars :y

If you want to use NGK their application catalog says the twin pole for Omegas are BKR6EK. Quad pole are BKR6EQUP,

That said, NGK BKR5EK is also equivalent to the original GM/Bosch twin poles, depending on whose cross reference you consult.
BKR5EK is a hotter plug than the 6EK.

So "you pays your money and you takes your choice".
