Xenon bulb failure
« on: 02 December 2010, 14:41:59 »

Grr just having a look at the headlights and one xenon bulb has failed. I suppose it has lasted well (13 years).

How much are the bulbs , where do you get them and how hard are they to change bearing in mind there is apparently high voltage death to be had.? Is there a guide/ previous topic?

been covered many times, often in this section.

basically you can get cheap ebay bulbs, go for 4300 or 6000k colour
they may or may not work / last and wont illumiate as well as decent osram or phillips once which are made quite differently, but cost a lot more.

on my old car, i used the cheapies and was lucky, but with homework done since, i would get branded ones next time.

There have been several here bought the cheap ones, and had no luck, have also seen reports of fire elsewhere.

the other option is 2nd hand bulbs of a breaker with broken headlight adjusters which dont normally sell.

I would do both bulbs as any changed will be a different colour.

Looks like I was one of the lucky ones, I bought these off ebay:-

Xenon bulbs D2S Factory Replacement Bulb
4300k  Factory Standard Colour temp.
Life time : more than 2500 hours
Arc length 4.0 MM
Output voltage : 85V±17V
Output power : 35W±3W
£20 pair inc p&p from ebay - alltronix_ltd

Only replaced one, as it was an exact colour match. Still going strong after a year or so.
