I need a new jack and this Sealey seems a good buy. Anyone got one and are they any good?  ::)  TIA!  :y

If it's anything like the one Daz brought along to Newent the other year, the lowering valve is very much ON or OFF ..... very difficult to lower the car gently

Is Tigger asking us if that turd can be polished?

It might be ok for the first dozen uses. But would need perfectly level and smooth ground to avoid folding up sideways eventually. So you'll likely need another next year, in which case buy a decent one in the first place.

They vary almost on a yearly basis.  But always good quality.  My Arcan XL3000 actually survived the "incident" a couple of years back (although the handle didn't), not that I'd ever use/trust it again.

The lightweight one I bought to replace it is also excellent, and doesn't break my gonads when lifting ;D

Sealey import and badge the same Chinese stuff as many other brands. Clarke are another who import and badge exactly the same stuff.

In the case of jacks, I've had both a Clarke (exact one also available as Sealey) and a couple of Arcan ones, and the Clarke one was a not a patch on the Arcan ones, yet similarish price.

I have the Arcan 2 tonne one, I'd hardly describe it as lightweight at 25 kilos but it's a hell of a jack ! Think is was £80 ish in jan

Sorry I thought we where talking about sealey jacks...? From first hand experience of mine and other members at various meets actually using they're jacks....They're shite Tigger!

Plus yours is a a poxy narrow bodied one. Slightest uneven ground and those gay little wheels dig in and the whole body twists. It will get permanently bent.

Plus, with those, you've got to fish about unplugging the handle to let the thing down.

If you want a bullit proof garage Jack get the arcan three ton. Wide low body. Wide big wheels. Smooth lowering action. Good reliable cog mechanism. Impossible to bend. Takes omegas with ease.

If you want a good portable Jack. Get the 1.5 tone TB has. Exact same design but in alloy. With a single roller at the front iirc. ...?

Arcan! Not sealey ::)

You think all sealey products are good?

Should add my sealey one (exact same body as TB's and Daz's at Newent) branded fast lift and painted black, is hopeless. Immediately displayed issues with lifting a full stroke of the handle, so is actually not fast lift at all. New seals and oil after a year, no better. Hair trigger dropping the car. The body is man enough though so twice the size of your one.

Daz's sealey? ;D hair trigger drop. Cogs in the release mechanism failed almost every time. Eventually Jimbobs car got stuck and we couldn't get it down without going under the car to fiddle with that same hair trigger mechanism.

They're shit Tigger. Plus, that one, the body isn't man enough.

This is the one you want ST.....

http://www.tool-net.co.uk/p-346066/clarke-ctj3000g.html?gclid=Cj0KEQjw-OCqBRDXmIWvveLE3_cBEiQAZWfImRDpwzM9vnARFL99kZwigBIdEDpVwXyWmtvoop5rEeEaAsmy8P8HAQ

You'll be surprised at the size of it when it comes!  :o

Really great for easy jacking up. But just got to practise lowering it as it suffers a little bit like AndyB says....lowering valve either on or off lol

However, having used it a lot I've got the nack to it now and I can lower slowly  :y

That's what I have; a 3tonne jack needs to be lot more robust than the first one mentioned. It's bloody heavy, which is a good thing until you have to carry it indoors!

Slightly cheaper and perfectly adequate.  Needs a rubber pad or ice hockey puck off the bay to compliment it.  :y :y

What about the Halfords ones? No idea about other stuff, but very pleased with the tools, or is this another bit of badge engineering?

AFAIK, Halfords only sell toy ones, often RAC branded?
