Fill in the form, send of cheque. Job jobbed.

Joining their forum used to be a PITA, but you can't even start to do that until you are a member of the club

Not to mention TC access which seems to produce an allergic reaction at the slightest mention ::)

Why anybody would pay to be a member of a forum these days is beyond me.  Unless you enjoy the self congratulatory cliquey journalism and generic advertising they churn out once a month.  ::)

As for TC access just open an account direct with VX. Not like they do any sort of diligent checking of your entitlement anyway.

Ooh steady. Somebody had a right go at me on here for daring to mention that very same pita process. I got accused of slagging off another car forum and everything.

...now who was that someone, if I could just remember....  ::) ?

I have a cheque book for each account, both of which were issued free of charge... ::)

Some things can only be paid for by cheque, so not having a cheque book could be seen as shortsighted even in this day and age...

You can still do it the old fashioned way with a cheque but online joining is available now. Yes we are gradually joining the 21st century ;D As yet, due to a bug in the programe being used, automatic forum access is still not available. This is now at test stage since debugging. But you could still turn up at Billing and pass on some portraits of the Queen and join then. Let us know if the last option  would work best for you and we will meet you there to sort it

Simple answer you can't get classic car insurance unless your a member of a recognised car club :y
Also you get discounted entry to shows (plus camping) which makes it worth the while joining.

ABS is a club with a members forum, not just a forum based club

.. and a decent forum alone doesn't come for free, before you consider the benefits of being in a club.. Far from it. We would be wise to remember how lucky we are here in that respect. :y

Rubbish. Unless you're trying to convince them that something as new and ubiquitous as a 15 year-old Omega qualifies as a 'classic car.'

I am a member of the Barkham and District classic car club,I didn't approach them..they approached me and the only criteria is that the car must be out of production.Check out the website and their calendar of activities, there's always something going on and there's a diverse selection of cars and motor cycles in the membership.Personally I'm not that bothered as to  wether my cars are classics or not,it's all about meeting different folk who have a proper interest in keeping an older car on the road......not ragging it to death and then sending it off to be cubed ::)
