Kwik shit
« on: 21 May 2015, 22:25:36 »

had to have 2 new tyres on the transit yesterday, have to use kwik fit, picked it drove it home and parked up,drove to work this morning,4 miles from yard and get a whistling noise, and grinding sound, got worse and reported it to team leader. Had to then take it to a garage we use in leicester and they took it for a test drive, came back and it sounded really bad,10 mins later they said it was sorted and asked if i had just recently had new tyres fitted, can you see where this is going lol.....
Turned out a wheel weight had come off and lodged itself between the caliper and wheel.

I call 'dangle berries'.

I hate QuitFit, but a weight placed on the outside of the wheel cannot find it's way in there.

I,d have thought that the centrifugal force would have chucked it away from the wheel. :-\

No idea how much room there is inside a transit wheel, but is it possible the weight was stuck on in the wrong place and the calliper wiped it off the wheel on first rotation?

Isn't their business model one of offering a free inspection followed by hard sell of work that wasn't necessary before they touched it?

What are the chances that if you had taken it back they would have sold you new discs, pads and callipers all round? ;D

(I wouldn't suggest that they planted it intentionally on a public forum..........)
