Omega General Help / Irmscher side skirt clips
« on: 20 September 2014, 19:17:00 »
Just had a passenger tred on my side skirt and break some of the white plastic clips that hold the skirt on and its now nicley bowing away from the sill. :-(
Does anyone know if the clips for the Irmsher skirts are the same as the stock ones usualy fitted. Iguess if the answers yes its a trip to GM.

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Rear window mechanisam went bang
« on: 20 September 2014, 09:17:21 »
Doing up rear window yesterday and it got half way up before going bang! and getting stuck. At first i thought the glue had failed on the bonding plate to the glass but after removing the rear door card I found a mess of broken platic bracket and steel cable :(  Anyone else had this problem and fixed it
?

Thanks Guys

Capacitors do nothing is not 100% true. If it where the case the amps themselves would not need them internaly on the power circuit. granted they make no obvious improvement in audio quality but its a good alternative to having a second battery in the boot to stop the current drain from stressing the battery at the front. They also help to reduce interferance in the power too :)

Been a long time doing this with many different components being put in and taken out to get a good SQ system but keeping the original head unit and the boot usable as its the everyday family car.

I know its no show piece but it does sound really quite nice now. bar the odd rattle at certain frequencies that I just cant seem to stop without taking drastic measures.

Kit comprises of:

Sound deadening in doors parcel shelf and boot

0 AWG and 4 AWG power cabling

Audiocontrol LC7 to enable me to keep head unit but still run RCA's to amp

Front and rear Genesis A16 Audiophile components. (had to make adapters to get them in front doors)

Genesis quad mono amp running components

2 X Soundstream rubicon SQ 10" subs

Genesis monoblock running subs

Lightning audio capacitor just to help smooth power a bit.

All wired with QED silver anniversary speaker cable.

A liberal spraying of GT85 inside the solenoid and its sorted  :y
I'd have changed the switch while I was there. I've never seen a mechanical issue in those motors and I've refurbed many of them. Once the GT85 gets into the switches / motor the problem might be back. :-\

I will see how it goes for now. I have some work to do on the doors for my stereo when the weather gets better so if it lasts till then i will be happy  :)

Thanks guys. I will try check the rods first and work my way back to the solenoid if that doesn't fix it.  :)

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Central locking playing up.
« on: 27 December 2012, 17:26:49 »
Hi All

Hope everyone had a good Christmas. Got a strange issue with my central locking. every time i unlock the car using the remote it locks itself again straight away... I have narrowed the problem down to the drivers door as using the key in the lock it stops doing it. Just wondering if this is a symptom of the micro switch failure in the motor or if its likely to be a sticking rod to the door pin as it doesn't seem to go all the way up when it unlocks. I can pull the pin up about 2mm by hand when its unlocked..

Thanks in advance for any help. :)
