Someone has put a lot of money into that - the Sadev gearbox can't have been cheap, and it's only got 75 miles on it?

Either:

a) There's a massive snag somewhere.
b) He shat himself half way round the first roundabout
c) SWMBO objected to sharing the passenger footwell with half of the Demon Tweeks catalogue

The original Getrag box was over £600 in the late 70,s.Probably NLA now I would imagine, and like expensive rocking horse dung if you can find a used one with the correct bellhousing. It was a really strong box, but the gearchange was possibly the worst I have ever experienced. Similar with the original engine, he almost makes it seem like they are available in your local branch of ECP, but I would imagine it would be pretty difficult to source one. A replacement cylinder head was just over a grand in 1979, which was eye watering then.
It has definitely had a lot of money spent on it though. Could be a fun / competitive rally car, depending on which class it would fall into. I wouldn't have a clue about classes these days.

They were indeed, but what useful purpose do they serve now ? Apart from allowing old farts like me to hark back to the good old days.
The price people will pay for them is crazy.
People are paying 15 grand for a 900 Z1, which were a great bike in 1975, but a well used 2 grand 600 sportsbike will leave one for dead using only 2nd, 3rd, and maybe 4th gears.
They also had rubber frames and wooden brakes, but it doesn't matter, because it allows us to relive our youth.
Incidentally, I really wanted a Fizzy, but my Dad bought me a Casal instead, because his mate owned the franchise or something.
It was a complete pile of crap. Two speed gearchange on the handlebars and did 38mph flat out, on a good day.
I rode it for about a month and then just left it lying up the garden to rot. Reverting to borrowing a mates Dunstall Commando, until I got caught.
Dad had to have (another) day of work to go to court with me. He was not happy.  ::) ;D
