Mrs TheBoy is insisting (quite rightly) that there are some facilities!  After Santa Pod last year, she would like proper toilets and some (preferably hot!) showers....

I've done a search on the Caravan Club website and come up with this alternative.

http://www.caravanclub.co.uk/Planning+your+trip/UK+Trips/Site+Search+and+Book/Club+Sites/Site+Detail.htm?csid=PARK+COPPICE&site=-1&region=Cumbria&county=Cumbria&facilities=TentCampersWelcome%3bToiletBlock%3b&arrivalDate=9-Jun-2007&departureDate=10-Jun-2007&dateFlexibility=0

It has toilets, showers, washing machine, tumble dryer, and its 400 yards from Coniston Water with it's own launch point for dinghys etc - or my 2 man inflatable canoe  8-)

But don't get excited cos the office is closed until 11am tomorrow so I dont know if its free or available to non club members.  I'll ask and update tmz.  And yes I am a member :-[

No tents at Park Coppice - but spaces for caravans no problem that weekend. Owner suggested this:

Within 1m though there is a site called Coniston Hall - tents only, no caravans.

http://somewherenear.com/idx.cgi?sessionkey=4620a8e84c88&rlimit=10&east=330801&north=495952&unique_id=3919&placetype=3&o-east=330401&o-north=496297&a=show&zoom=1

Both have showers, toilets and access to the lake and the Tent site is specifially ideal for groups - owner just asks that quiet after 11pm.

So, plan could be to spilt sites but all meet up in Tent venue, have BBQ etc and then walk back up the road to caravan for bed.  Map of Tent site has reference to Park Coppice, which shows how near it is.

Spaces availble at both, I'm looking at bringing my daughter 11 with me in van and staying over Friday 8th and Sat 9th at Park Coppice.  I obviously won't book until we decide where we going as Keswick and Bowness are still options.  So lets decide soon or there may be nowhere to stay. :)

Do they allow bbqs - some campsites prohibit this...

June is a bit late for me  :(

However I am going to Scotland late May just after my exams, for a mini-road trip in the Senny!  :)

Early June I shall be a tad busy in London...

Much prefer Keswick to Boness, much less touristy, the Scotgate Site i mentioned earlier may well fit the bill.

Seen groups there before, and bbq's, and pub 2 mins walk away.

TB - BBQ's Yes - Open fires No.

Jimbob - Is the site at Keswick free for about 10 tents and say 2 caravans?  I assume you are staying in a van rather than tent with the nipper.  Coniston as mentioned above is quiter than Bowness but has enough going on, as does Keswick.

As I dont have caravan or tent......does the caravan site rent out static vans for weekends?

Also are dogs allowed?

If I remember correctly, they dont take bookings, but is a large site
I will be tenting, lots of space for tents and vans, and they rent out as well, presume they are bookable.
Have seen dogs there.

Can ring em next week if needs be for specifics

Shop, Cafe, Toilets coin-op showers all on site
