Started testing circuits on the wiring loom - it now has working sidelights, dipped, main beam, hazards, indicators and wipers .. although the wipers are turning backward trying to bury the blades in the bodywork, so I need to turn the wheel boxes around  :-X ;D

Still no engine, mind.

You need to pull your finger out and get it done. :)

Yes it would. The emissions would be similar to an electric vehicle.  :P  ;D

Steam watch, day 4:

After cleaning the intake and internals of the exhaust system ::) I still had quite a bit of steam coming out on the pipes but only when it had sufficiently warmed up.  No misfires or other signs of HG problems.   Several short trips over the weekend but no reduction in the amount of stinky steam from the baffles. Drove to work this morning, circa 50 miles, and by the time I got there the steam was significantly reduced.  Time will tell if it will have gone completely, being half-term I am hoping that the M25 will be clear enough for a bit of an italian tune-up on the way home. ::)

Driven it to a garage  :-[

Can't get the bolt remains out of the cat flange, and can't get it high enough to spend all afternoon messing around...

The problem is more getting the car high enough to work and move around under... Sadly, Mercedes decided that the Trolley only has 5 jacking points, four of which are 3" round and clearly only designed for two post lifts, so nowhere to safely place axle stands, so the best I can do is drive it onto ramps and jack the rear on one side, which is less than ideal. Can't do it the other way around as that would put the jack next to the exhaust joint making physical access even more of a pita.  :'(

Sounds like it could have been done like that accidentally-on-purpose.  You obviously need a 2 post car lift ::)

Obviously...  ;D

The deeds say that we can't have a fence at the front, keep chickens, caravans or hang washing to the front of the house.

No mention of boats or lifting equipment  ::)

It's funny, mine says no boats, caravans or trailers.  But when I pointed out to the planning department, to whom one of my lovely neighbours had obviously complained, that I can park a long-base astra, a jag, a boat and a small box trailer on the drive without parking anything on the road they relented.  The planning restriction was to prevent over-spill on to the road because that is where the local 'garage' do their work customers park (not in the car park in their own planning restrictions).  The builders of my house had to prove that there was space for 4 cars on the driveway of a 2 bedroom house.  Go figure.

If only Horsham District Council planners were that bright... Here it's 3/4 of a car per bedroom for flat developments ::)

Anyhoo, bolt liberated and exhaust leak free. £12 well spent 8)

In our developement of 9 houses, 5 of the 9 only have one space for a 4 bed house!

Others had 2, but I can squeeze 3 on mine with pair of Omegas on the front section.

I'm going to the US in December, and pondering bringing some engine parts back with me.. not the crank/pistons/etc that form the 462ci stroker kit (7.57 litres) though as that's well over the excess baggage allowance with Virgin (32Kg)!
