Title: CID Replacement for MID
Post by: system1357 on 10 January 2017, 07:50:08
The MID in my '96 Omega B has gone all blurry and few dots left, so I'd like to find a new replacement. After some googling I saw a few mods successfully replaced the MID with CID from the '03 omega. The problem is that complete instructions aren't available anywhere. Can anyone tell me how to do this myself?

Problem list:
1.which CID should I buy? any part numbers or id?
2.will it be compatible with the stock car radio?(Grundig SC303, displays info on MID)
3.how can the wiring be done? will the MID Control buttons still work?
4.wiring diagram will be truly helpful if available

Thanks!

1) KJ
2) No - will need a NCDR1100 radio
3) Easiest to make the mods on a TM loom, but if yours is a pre 98 MID, you'll also need to do the early to late MID wiring conversion

Also the late type mid with a single gray connector dont have the pixel problems that the early mid with a black and a yellow connector has. I put a 98 mid in my 95 omega. Requires just a new plug to the mid and the wire colours are in the haynes manual. A cid is fancyer i guess but a new type mid is easier and also allows you to change the radio for a modern aftermarket unit. (At least alpine still sells headunit and adaptor cables that works with the omega mid and tid). Worth considering maybe?
