Title: SpaceX
Post by: Entwood on 06 February 2018, 21:03:51
Well .. congratulations to Elon Musk and SpaceX, just watched the launch of Falcon Heavy.....  appeared to be faultless, was also quite amazing !! The simultaneous landing of the 2 side cores was stunning !!

Just hope the rest of the mission .. centre core recovery and orbit insertion also go as planned

He might be a dreamer .. but it appears some of his dreams do come true !!

One hell of an achievement just landing the boosters in sync. Shame about the centre core though. Great watch and thanks for the link. :y 8)

At least they have a sense of humour too, with the caption "don`t panic" on the satnav screen in the Tesla  :D

Fantastic achievement, by man with a vision for 21st century transport. :y :y :y

While the best our politicians can manage for 21st century progress is an overpriced, high maintenance white elephant using Victorian technology, HS2. >:( >:( >:(

Although not quite according to script with the centre section crashing into the water as opposed to landing back as planned it was still a great achievement :y The two side boosters landing in synch was amazing to see.Couple of nice touches with the sat nav display,Major Tom on the stereo and a copy of Hitchikers Guide in the glove box 8) Bodes well for the future and good luck to the man for his vision and determination to see it through :y :y

Rods2. I have put your name down for the first New York to London rocket flight. Journey time of 29 minutes.

If he does, it will probably be a one-way trip.

Surely, if you were hoping to win customers for your launch platform, you'd want to demonstrate its accuracy in putting the payload exactly where you say you're going to put it, as this is what your customers will want?

I don't get the "well, we'll just fire up the engine and, if the electronics works, and the fuel hasn't frozen, we'll burn it all and see where it ends up" approach at all. ;D Do they have the capability to put something where they say they will, or are they just amateurs playing with bottle rockets like I did when I was a kid*, but on a slightly larger budget? :-\

* - Belated apologies to my next-door-but-one neighbours. "Where it ends up" on that day turned out to be your greenhouse. :-[

Sounds to me Entwood as though the car will soon be classed as a total write off!! Do you think anyone will make a claim to their insurance company?

Can you imagine the conversation................" Hello, my car has been written off"......."Where did this happen?".............."Somewhere in the Asteroid Belt"............"Where was you travelling to?"........."eh, to Mars".............."Were there any witnesses?"............."No"................"What were the weather conditions like?"................."eh, well, space like; no air, very dry, with excellent visibility".............""Do you need the car recovered?"....................."Yes please"................. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;)
