Omega General Help / Re: Carlton AR35 into an Omega?
« on: Yesterday at 22:46:21 »
Dipstick tube will need removing and blanking off. Other than that Im not sure if anything is different.

I intended to retain the dipstick with suitable modification, when I started to modify mine to fit. It may have required a new tube/and or stick. I liked the idea, also the drain plug on the sump, which, incidentally, will fit the Omega box. See other thread regarding differences. :y

'T'was me. The electrics are slightly different, and the selector is on the wrong side. I had modified the electrics, which involved enlarging one of the socket holes, and rewiring the internal connections, but before I could fit the selector to the other side, I sold the TD estate which was the intended recipient, so let the box go with it. I believe it could have been done, but would require the selector shaft from an Omega box, as I doubt if the flat on the shaft would be correct when reversed. :y
PS I still have the Carlton box ECU if someone needs one.

Ive never known a boiler installation take more than a day, even if a different model, other than going from combi to standard or vice versa.

Unfortunately that defeats the object of not having anything other than nice curtains in the dining room.
I shall look further into a suitable film. :y

PS Sent from my cabin on a Norwegian cruise thanks to modern technology which I, sometimes, manage to use to my advantage. ::)

Has anyone used this on domestic windows? It would allow me to get rid of nuisince hanging blinds etc.
Those hanging blinds are a bit of a nuisance. I got roller blinds from blinds2go, really easy to fit. I put them into the upvc frame. Perhaps a combination of privacy film and a roller blind, Chris? The film would take care of the daylight hours and pull the blinds down after dark.

Iím trying to avoid blinds of any sort, and the curtains will be drawn at night, we just need the privacy from a neighbours garden, although it is rare to see them in that area, so a reflective film would be ideal. It is on the North side of the house, in fact we could do two other ground floor windows on that side as well, and get rid of the existing blinds there as well. :y

Changed the Pussy's bonnet strut, and its locking wheel nuts (some mong had their windy gun set to 10,000Nm, and it wrecked them...  ...luckily my breaker bar survived with minimal damage).

Today I snapped a Vauxhall 17mm wheel brace, followed by shearing the square off my extendable wheel brace
removing the front wheel of the Zafira dirty diesel to do the brake pads / discs
must have been the same kwick sh*t fitter who tightened those  :P
had to use the omega brace for the last bolt,  extended with what was left of the extendable brace
and yes , i did take up most of the weight of the car with a jack

It does make you wonder who they employ. Dtr had my old BX, and the next time I tried to take a wheel off I had to use ultimate force, a 6' long breaker bar. I kicked up such a stink with the 'garage' that did the damage, and had clearly exceeded the elastic limit of the bolts, that I had the cost of the new bolts refunded, £40 odd if memory serves. >:(

Watched this last night. It's a long time since I've, personally, seen a more un-pc, sweary funny film.
Americans say c**t with such venom. Very good  ::)

Yes, I'm hoping it comes up on Amazon prime. It sounds like my kind of film. Like Coen bros movies. :y

Omega Gallery / Re: 97 omega gl estate ęwinter carĽ
« on: 28 July 2018, 19:21:27 »
:y a nice copy of omega, same color as my -96 estate. (mine is a 2.5v6CD manual gear, at 462500km.) and still going strong. It's as you say Norway is a tough place for cars in winter. Norwegian road authorities have a bad theory that in the winter the roads should be black and wet. :-\ :'(

They were not like that back in the '60's and early '70's. Norwegian drivers were extremely adept at dealing with white roads in those days. I was always impressed with their driving skills on my many visits to Stavanger, Bodo and Oerland. :y

It was a sad footnote that the ship's captain died as a result of trying to save her!

A nice looking Elite Estate here being broken, scrapped due water leak! What a shame. They only break, as they obviously make more that way, and minimal comebacks. :'(
