Omega General Help / No gear selector lights

Afternoon All

My 2002 2.6 had no gear selector lights with engine management light and TC lights up when i took it off the drive earlier. Reverses okay but limp mode on forward gears.

Had the AA out with their whizzy code reader and got fault code 0705 told its drive position sensor, does this sound right?

If so

What part number are they and are they hard to fit?

Omega General Help / OIl leak and blue smoke

2002 2.6

Driving on the motorway engine oil light flickers on and off but no oil level low message. look behind and blue smoke and loss of power.

When I check under bonnet oil dripping below twin rubber hoses at front of plenum.

AA man says probably piston rings. Car had oil change at a garage a few weeks ago but has driven okay locally since and I just cleared the breather pipes. Oil still in sump and level seems okay.

Coolant not contaminated at all and cam cover gaskets okay.

Is it a goner???

Trying to undo and replace auxillary bely tensioner pulley but nut is a bit stiff. Before I go to town on it can anyone confirm whether it is a standard or reverse thread

When changing switches in actuator for the drivers door am I right in thinking there is two switchws and do both need changing?

Car Parts, bits For Sale & Wanted / Wanted Arial cable from blue connector in footwell backwards

Could admin move please

I'm after a short length of arial cable with the blue connector that is located in driver kick panel going to back of car. I want to splice to another arial cable that is attached to an external arial but I dont want to damage the existing wiring as not sure it will give better radio reception or not.

My car is a 2002 CD saloon (not sure if this makes a difference)

Omega General Help / Top Heater matrix hose

Hi all

Got leak from the top quick connect heater matrix hose 2002 2.6

Got a new pipe from VX but it looks different from the existing pipe that is fitted at the moment the new one only has up to the green clip,  I assume  the locking collar at the back is reused when pipe refitted

To deatch the pipe am I right in saying I pull locking collar away from bulkhead towards front of engine (which closes up the existing gap) and then twist and pull everything off including locking colar? Or just th epip and connector

If so is the locking collar attached to the new pipe and then refitted or to the metal matrix pipe first

Can someone who has done it give me a simple, exact walkthrough how to remove them including what tools they used. I had a look on the guide and couldn't find any indepth instructions.

Omega General Help / Front Damage and insurance question

Hi all

Just smashed front of the car at a turning, didn't see the other car and clipped side of his car and nearside front wing of mine

Bumper + fog lights, behind bumper support bar, nearside light, both under headlight trims, nearside wing and inner wing are damaged.

Bars behind bumper support attaches to are both bent as in pictures can these be straightened/replaced or is this the actual car chassis.

If it can be repaired what would be a ball park figure for getting all these bits

The only time i have been sorry the car isn't a rare silver model paint code is Z155 graphite grey so if it can be repaired would be nice but probably unlikely to get the same colour parts

Thanks for any advice also appreciate any advice on handling the insurance company re car value (PS I know it is virtually worthless but you know what i mean)

Omega General Help / Wiper linkage

Morning all. Looking for some advice.

Wipers just stopped straight up last night while driving in the rain.

Checked the car this morning and can hear motor turning and can feel that one of the rods on the drivers side feels loose. Only had a few minutes before work this morning to check but before I take scuttle off what should i be looking to have ready to fix or replace. I assume its popped off its mounting and even if I can reattach it probably worn and won't stay there. Do the linkage repair clips work or do I need new arms. If anyone has any links for replacement bits please let me know

Omega General Help / Steering problem

After a bit of advice

Car has done 94k and has had an MOT advisory on front shocks being weak a few months ago.

Last week I went round a roundabout in the wet and the back end drifted right out. At th etime I assumed I had approached it too fast but now when I take a corner even at lowish speed (more noticeably on a right hand corner) the back feels like its about to kick out.

Any ideas what this is? Is it th eshoc

Omega General Help / Intermittent indicators

Hi all, after a bit of advice

I had this problem a few years ago and as suggested on here pressed the hazard switch repeatedly and it seemed to be okay, I need to do this every few months but it has worked after each reset.

But now the indicators work twice then miss a flash then flash once again then stop. No amount of pressing the hazard switch seems to correct it. When the hazard switch is on both indicators flash as they should.

I changed hazard switch 2 years ago when I first got the problem and the indicator stalk last year. Should I be looking at a relay or fuse next?

Omega General Help / Rear roof aerial on 2002 saloon

2002 Saloon CD

Fed up with weak radio reception so looking to add external aerial in place of existing GPS/car phone nipple on there at the moment

Got a beesting aerial that will do the job but before i pull take everything apart does anyone know what sort of hole is underneath the existing aerial is it a round/square hole and anyone got a rough idea of hole size.
