Omega General Help / Breakdown
« on: 18 January 2022, 12:26:09 »
What a day yesterday was started with 8 hour stint in the local A&E and on the way home I noticed a slight stutter or a clunk it was quick then a mile further on it all stopped.Engine turns over more no firing so called Emergency Assist and after the call I tried the engine and it fired up so drove for another 6 miles and it stopped again seemed like on deceleration so they brought me home.Car started this morning enough to move it so at least it's off the road.I'm guessing Crankshaft sensor but I'll pop out again shortly and check any codes,do we have any recommendations for new ones? Or any other useful info and what perfect timing lol

Omega General Help / Cat Cover
« on: 20 May 2021, 22:32:44 »
Driving along today and heard a slight ping/clang and saw a piece of metal in the rear view mirror turns out to be the guard or reinforcing for cat so solutions before anymore damage can be caused to cat.Could I wrap it in something for example? Any likely MOT issues later?

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Breakdown
« on: 03 February 2021, 13:00:09 »
Well the first time in 17 years I broke down and had to be recovered how annoying. Haven't been hardly anywhere in the car for sometime and been having a few niggling problems with interior light and front seat and to finish a breakdown maybe they're all related.Had a decent run in the morning for an eye test and got referred to hospital in the afternoon on the way back from the latter suddenly the battery light came on and lots of other warning lights soon followed and  a decrease in performance I was just hoping to make it home but alas a queue at road works stopped me.Emergency assist recovered me and very good they were by the way. Popped out this morning and checked battery volts 11.14 so now that's on charge as a first step and then we'll try and start it and I guess check volts at the battery to see if it's charging. Any other hints or tips because of course it could be the alternator would the ecu have any bearing with all the rain we've been having?

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Driver's seat
« on: 01 February 2021, 18:45:10 »
Well this damp winter is causing all manner of problems and the latest is the electric drivers seat is dead it was working just fine a couple of days ago but zero movement of any kind. The passenger seat is just fine so maybe it's a fuse or all connected to my interior light staying on. FRUSTRATING!!!!!!

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Interior light
« on: 15 January 2021, 14:41:05 »
The alarm went off and it would seem that the interior map light is not dimming and going off.It does go off when ignition is turned but back on again after and staying on so could be a timer fault or any other suggestions to overcome this problem would be most welcome. Is there a relay?

Omega General Help / Rear Brakes
« on: 22 April 2020, 21:11:55 »
I've been meaning to do the service the rear brakes and with the fine weather and this lockdown decided now was the time to give it my first ever go.It's been a challenge but I'm getting there slowly from struggling to get the discs off etc so could do with a little help and advice of course.First up the caliper bolts were held in with blue coloured threadlock I have some red here somewhere would that be suitable or only blue or nothing? The spring cross clip came off in 2 pieces and it's for the vented brakes if I can't get one could I nut and bolt it?Gm shoes are on it and they have worn about a third and appear to have bits of rust embedded in this surface clean and reuse or bin?Discs are rusted on the outside lip and there is a 1mm lip inside and out, clean this off or replace?Recommended  Discs? Pads are likewise worn but still meaty but if I change discs then new pads too any recommended? Thanks in advance for any tips

Omega General Help / Tracking
« on: 18 February 2020, 20:18:30 »
Hi again, well car went through MOT and one of the front tyres was an advisory as it was quite bald on the inner rim driver's side.So today I got a new tyre fitted and saw an offer at National Tyres for half price tracking so I popped in to find out more.Well it was half price on the front but the back needed doing as well so it would be £45 so I said carry on.When I saw the gas bottles come out I thought he's struggling and soon he came in to say the back was seized and he couldn't do them without breaking them.So on to the front and gas bottles, hammers, chisel etc and a lot of time he managed to move them a bit and earned his £15 but it seems therefore it all needs replacing.Firstly is it a DIY job? Any hints or tips? Parts required? and then after done back and get it all tracked better as the car wants to go left.As always thanks in advance!!!!!
