Omega General Help / 2.6 v6 error codes
« on: 13 April 2022, 17:34:41 »
Hi folks really need some help with my 2.6.
I had oil leaks on cam covers and replaced the seals etc.
after rebuild it was running lumpy and I could here hissing. Stripped plenum off again and found a crack in the long vacuum pipe that runs under it. Taped it up and reassembled. This time even worse and got the spanner on dash.
Pedal trick lists following errors.
P0120 and p0220 throttle position switch a and b.
P1300 robs error because of empty fuel tank instrument. It is low on fuel!
Also got p1700 service vehicle soon which I guess is due to the other faults.
What have I missed. Everything seems connected and tight.
Really appreciate some help.

Ps I have the black sealant ready to go.

I can’t source a replacement so I think it is tape it up and forget it. Thanks again. Finish build up tomorrow and see if it will start. The breathers were clear and the rocker gaskets not apparently leaking but there was oil in two of the plug bores-one on each bank. All cleaned up. Next stop might be scrap!!!

Spot on as usual. Got suppressor off and the break is clean at the point it enters the plastic. What is the purpose of this item.

Got you now. So what does the suppressor look like. Is it obvious. I guess that it is close to top judging by length of wire I have. Has it a connector?

So do you mean it has come adrift from the large plug that connects to the coil pack connector ?

Hi again. Well breathers done. Rockers back on. Starting rebuild and came across this wire. It originates in the thick loom as a black wire and goes into connector as in photo. Comes out brown. It is a clean break and I can’t see any loose ends elsewhere. Any pointers please.

Thanks everyone will put a loop on as there is plenty of water around the scuttle! And thanks for the heads up on the pipe going to purge. Without you all I would have given up years ago.

Hi folk. Started to renew rocker gasket and clean breathers today. It’s been an off and on  job with rain. As you can see in photo there are the 4 breather pipes. What is the other pipe in my hand. I don’t remember taking it off anything and I can’t see where it might connect to. It was tucked away and goes down towards the bell housing.
Also I noticed another pipe which is routed under brake servo and out into wheel arch. There is a join just where it exits and this had come apart also. I can reconnect this but wondered on its purpose.
All comments greatfully received.

It’s all stripped down now so can’t test the starter but- I noticed oil has got onto starter. Would that goose the relay.

You guys know your stuff. Thanks. I worked through the list above and sure enough oil in the plug bores around the coil packs on both banks. So where next. I guess new cam cover gaskets. I heard somewhere that the breather system could be a cause. Checked the pipes entering back of plenum and all seem fine. Pointers please.

Hi sometimes it turns over. Just tried it and it started. Runs lumpy but will rev no problem. Turned it off. Tried a second time and nothing.
