For it's faults, Helfrods does allow you to see what you're looking at in person. ;)

General Car Chat / Re: So what have you done to your car today?
« on: 14 March 2024, 05:19:09 »

Failed on both fronts lower arm ball joints, headlight adjustment and NS brake light..

Can you replace the ball joints, or is it time for new arms?
Unfortunately not, they're pressed in blind.

Unfortunately, the strut attached to them and is secured by grub screws which are prone to seizing.in place.

Booked in for next Friday.

Any unit with Bluetooth will get the job done.

If the car doesn't have Bose then it's a pretty straightforward exercise. Just go to Halfords and buy the first thing you like the look of and possibly an adapter cable :y

Got a puncture and failed it's MoT.

Puncture caused by summat I picked up moving over for a fire engine, hole too big to repair so replacement on order.

Failed on both fronts lower arm ball joints, headlight adjustment and NS brake light.

Headlights adjusted by tester, and brake light turned out to be tester error... he confused the single fog light for a brake light. Son only the arms to address.

General Car Chat / Re: The future: EVs or ICEs?
« on: 12 March 2024, 11:37:53 »
Fair play to the marketing bods for upselling that, but surely an EV doesn't really require actual brakes given the regenerative braking power...

And presumably if you knock it into neutral it would simply roll to a stop ::)

What is listed there is what I fitted to mine.

If you want shocks, Sachs are the factory fit and cheaper than Bilstien and fit better in my experience, springs I can recommend Kilen HD.

Yes shocks and springs will take you to £800 territory but the rewards are in how the car drives.

Update: having cleaned and lubricated the throttle body and thinking this had solved the problem, it came back again. I put a new throttle body on and immediately had a smooth tick over from cold and it would seem much better fuel consumption. I even saw 36 mpg as an average from Surbiton to Rushden and back, well pleased with that.
:-X

Did you clean the cam cover and breathers from the sump to the TB  :-\

3 Store unable to assist with billing enquiries, so as suspected, they win that prize.

In the process of moving to O2 so that's them told.*

*Not that they actually give a shit because if they did I wouldn't have had to query six of the last eight bills :-X

Currently 50/50 between 3 and a thin skinned precious little snowflake who was almost mortally wounded when I got a bit snappy at him.

I suspect 3 will win because they are a total bunch of frucktards.
