Replaced my 21yr old escort with a 1.9 saab 9-5. I hope  it is cheaper to run! So now we have 2 GM brands. I know there are people on this forum with excellant GM product knowledge and it is way more popular than the saab one.
Can a saab expert pm  me so i can ask about problems / cures.

Omega General Help / air con......and hbv
« on: 11 August 2010, 22:41:14 »
Hi all.
Had the air con checked before we set off to Spain as it did not feel cold. The air was coming out of the vernts at 7c. It has seemed a bit eratic since. The engine revs go up when ac is turned on, Water under passenger side if stationary. and the whir of the compressor stopping when engine is turned off.
Should the ac fan at the front be on permanently when ac on?

Had to change hbv as the old one was leaking badly. I still have a tiny leak as I can smell the coolant and the level is falling very slowly...may be a clip not seated properly. but at lñeast the loss is so slow it would get me home , but I shall have another look

Any ideas about ac?

Omega General Help / on hol with faults
« on: 24 August 2010, 23:20:30 »
changed HBV ( the Spanish parts guy did ask if I only wanted one) still got a tiny drip. AC not cold. No radio lights. No air flow under load. All on hol without tools. When I get back MUST get everything sorterd.
Can you get Vac pipe kits or just new pipe ?  Does half...Ds  aircon recharge stuff work as i could buy something here in spain that is similar and get home with the windows up! Whoever posted about turning the heaters to hot to stop hbv leaks, a tip I remembered  a big THANK YOU.

Omega General Help / coolant loss..my thanks
« on: 04 August 2010, 00:08:35 »
my thanks to...elite pete for recent help and to the member who posted about the HBV not losing coolant when set to hot. It worked for me. Expansion tank emptied in a very short time on french m`-way. When set to hot no loss at all. Very uncomfortable the heater heating 35c air but I arrived at my destination  only a few hours late.

Omega General Help / vacuum box
« on: 12 July 2010, 22:23:24 »
This ongoing vent airflow problem. I can now hear the hissing of the vacuum disappearing. Are the vac boxes a vx only part. Is the one at the front of the car the same as the one by the pollen filter. How easy is the one at the pollen filter to change?
