Despite having ours in a tent on my parents lawn I still dread to think what it cost. In fact, there are 2 things in my life that I've never dared to count the cost of: Building a kit car and getting married. I have all the receipts in both cases, it's just that if I added them up and saw the final figure I'd probably die of shock.

Thing is I reckon the kit car total would be significantly below the wedding total, so, if we hadn't... :-X

I remember it well.....she decided to she wanted to get married 7 months later which realy buggered the savings up!

You're not wrong there! We quickly realised that if you mention the "M" word when booking anything there's an immediate 100% markup applied because they figure you'll be to starry eyed to care about being sh@fted. ::)

Can you not find the information on the internet somewhere? Just a thought. If you've found yourself in that position maybe it's happened to others too?

Who brought this up again? I'm starving now. One paltry bowl of corn flakes is all I've had.  :'(

I guess the few remaining low mileage Omegas are commanding the money.  :o I know he doesn't budge far on price. Didn't when I enquired, anyway.

I reckon he's got contacts in all the fleet / leasing companies and they just offload them onto him as they are coming up for replacement. If you get a reutation for offering a better deal than sending them to auction and no hassle there's probably a steady stream of them. It won't last for much longer, though, because I can't imagine there are many left in lease agreements.

I have a limited mileage policy on the kit car and have to provide the mileage every year at renewal. That way they know if I've exceeded it and there is a clause in the policy that voids it if I've exceeded the mileage limit.

I wonder if that's why so many kit cars have such unreliable speedos? :-X

Is it a limited mileage insurance policy as such, or have you just advised them of your estimated annual mileage?

Just got a cheque for £300 from my insurance company. Returned excess from the claim I made after a biker stoved in my front bumper in Italy in September. Seems 3rd party admitted liability and paid up :y

I guess it's not a present really. Just money of mine they've been "borrowing" for a few months >:(

He needs to remove the head and send it to this guy...

Cor! wish I'd found him when my Laguna chewed up one if its' cam bearings a couple of years back. Paid a lot more than that for a recon head. (including cam, admittedly, but a poverty spec 8v one).

he did an Omega two years ago and it cost over a grand,

That's a lot of money. I off Ebay item 130183073405. 65 quid, and a few other odds and sods.

If it needs valve guides and the like it's really not that expensive to get them done.

Add a few hours labour - even a day's labour. How he got to a grand beats me.
