Clearing Climate Codes Without Tech 2
« on: 02 August 2016, 18:00:06 »

Guys, is there any other way to clear the fault codes on a MFL CDX (1998) climate unit without the use of a Tech 2?

I had the dash apart on mine and the yellow plug for the motors did not connect properly and fell out on testing. I now have the dashed lines in the temperature display when shutting the system down.

I have "My Naff Code Reader" (proper version) but it does not read the codes for the climate system (does everything else).

The reset (Auto and Off) obviously will not work.

Fair enough.

I have now ordered a Tech2 and will await its arrival.

Bit extreme, spending £1500, just to do that job, would be cheaper to drive up to brakershire, see TB, exchange beer tokens, or other goods, job jobbed. ;D

I have a few Vauxhalls and a lot of friends have them and I look after them all. I had thought about getting one for a while. Plus it will go nicely with my other diag tools.

Plus, we have a new tech starting Monday in work that has just left a Vauxhall dealer I used to work at, so will be aiming to get TIS working for programming as well.

Also means another Tech2 on the forum possibly

I just have a rule that if I need a tool more than twice, I purchase it. If I no longer need the tool, I pass it on to someone who can use it.

I still have a Ford V4 spigot bearing removal tool from Ford that works perfectly on my I4 lump in my Sierra for example.

Near the QE2 bridge area, Kent side.

All Tech2 are now Chinese made as Vetronix was taken over by Bosch and the manufacture changed to China years ago.

The difference with this one is that it will be running genuine software straight from the dealer as I will make sure it has the latest firmware and the guys I know at Vauxhall will test it on one of their Sales Dept trade ins to make sure it does not fry anything.

Cool 20 mins from here then, plus the the standard £35 'I forgot to pay my Dartford Toll online' fine.

From Epping Forest, straight through Blackwall Tunnel and turn off @ Bexley

Well, the Tech 2 has landed.

Photos and testing to follow, but I can report it has already extinguished my ECC code issue 😄
