RIP Chuck Berry
« on: 18 March 2017, 22:23:44 »

Sad news that Chuck has passed away today aged 90  . .  . :'( :'(

not the most prolific of guitar players but he certainly had an influence on me. :y

Johnny B Goode was one of the first guitar intros I ever learned back in the day

Been a fan of his Rock'nRoll style since I was kid  . . . RIP  Chuck you'll be sadly missed

The original guitar hero, who inspired all who cam after. No Chuck Berry - no stones, beatles, Hendrix etc etc.  RIP Chuck.

Met the guy back in the 60s when we bought him over to do a gig in Manchester.  Paid him to do 90 min gig - he then did an foc "encore" for another hour.  Damn good live, and a gent to talk to.  Lots of celebs signed in to see him - remember signing in Jagger myself that night.  Good age though.  RIP Chuck.

Not a bad run to hit 90.Some say he was the "inventor"of rock 'n' roll, whether true or not he was certainly a huge influence on the genre.R.I.P.

The half decent music based film made in 2008  called "Cadillac Records"  , shows Chuck Berry's rise to fame, along with Muddy Waters, Little Walter , Willie Dixon , Etta James & of course Leonard Chess, who's record company recorded all those early hits. Well worth a watch & recommended if you are into early Rock'n'Roll . . .  ;)

Beyonce' plays Etta James  ;) ;)

A bit too early for me. I remember his music, but I didn't really start until the Beatles came along.
Being a scouser, I'm not sure sufficient time has passed yet for my confession, but here goes: I preferred the Rolling Stones. There, I've said it now.

Certainly one of the Founding Fathers 8)

This...

And...

This

First is pure class, second... well it was the '70s ::)

Not sure which is more shameful, the fact that they're the only two songs of his I could name or that the second one was ever produced.

Was never a fan of the Beatles either. John Lennon managed one decent song afterwards, but that was about it...

Sadly, none of us are getting any younger...

True, but some of us aren't getting any older. I've been 50 for thirteen years now.

Nobody likes Cliff. He is an 'oddball'. Something strange about him.
