coolant trouble

Took 2.6 to Mildenhall pre-70 bangers with no problem,started car for way home and coolant warning came up.
Checked it and was low so topped up, got home and saw patch of oily stuff on drive. Checked this morning and new patch on drive sort of HBV area. I only changed this a month ago surely cant of failed can it? Also its only just started to lose coolant last couple of days      what do you all think?

someone else is up :) The new one fitted was from GM but made in china and waqs about £18 which seemed cheapish ,have they been failing really early?

As ever, check the usual spots and try changing the climate temp settings to see if it improves any ;)

Thanks doc if i take it out will leak be visable(stain) and will i be within my rights to return it for another?

A year ago I bought 2 HBVs from Vauxhall Direct Bristol. I fitted one, it leaked, fitted the other, it still works OK. I returned the faulty one and was given a replacement without trouble. Sounds like quality control is poor, though, or perhaps they are all old stock now.

If its failed within the warranty period, then its covered by warranty. If purchased from a dealer, call them once you've proved it, as they may replace it FOC if you CBA to do it yourself.

I have a couple of used ones in stock I removed from breakers a few years ago. I think I will hang onto them in case they are needed.
The reports on quality of new GM ones is shocking.

I've not had an issues with new ones, but terry paget clearly has. Have to wait and see if OP's issue is an early HBV failure.

Could be HBV, of course, well worth trying to check the hoses at the rear of the engine, too. I 'proved' my HBV was leaking, only to discover it was said pipes which were at fault.

When i remove the HBV will i be able to see if its leaking.as i said after putting this one in it was fine for a month then possibly after turning temp right down i end up with patch on drive.
So im kind of hoping itis HBV  :(

I've removed the HBV today ,looking at it all looks new ,as i expect it to be the cause of the leak would i see any signs on HBV?
