Does anyone on OOF use a Kenlowe type electric engine pre-heater?

I was previously an ABS member some years ago & they seemed fairly common by their members.

I fitted one to my MV6 & was very pleased with it.

Volvo do one as an official accessory so am contemplating it .....

Remember when my Grandad used to put a small spirit heater under his Austin A35 during cold snaps,. This was in the 50/60s when winters were a damn sight colder and batteries punier.

We use to do that, when the diesel went waxed, small fire under the tank, drain the water bowl, half gallon of petrol into the tank, then drink tea, time to start it. Very rare now, unless you go from southern Europe, to northern Europe,

It all depends on how long it takes your engine to warm up, my MV6 was blowing warm air within half a mile so I wouldn't st it was worth it but older cars that take a couple of miles to warm up then it probably is worth it

So, I reiterate my point that many ABS members use them in the past. All I’m getting here is you questioning why I’d want to use one. I guess free choice is the answer. My question, again, is does anyone use one on OOF? I’m really not interested in explaining why I’m keen on them.

If Robert is still reading, I will attempt to give a sensible answer to his question.
I had a Kenlowe heater on my Austin A30 way back, but although it was effective, it was also more trouble than it was worth - and no use whilst at work, with nowhere to plug it in!
