Omega and Aston Martin
« on: 01 February 2018, 20:54:23 »

Just watching this week's CAR SOS, the boys doing an Aston Martin DB6, enjoyed seeing  three SU carbs and 2 SU fuel pumps - they brought back memories - and I was reminded of my calling on an old school friend in Marlow on the way home from the High Wycombe meeting in 2015. Looking for friend's house, I  wandered into the house next door by mistake, and parked my Omega next to his neighbour's Aston Martin, Porsche and Range Rover. Sour grapes I know, but I thought my Vx was the best car there.

With so many expensive cars, you’d think he’d be able to afford a bigger house than that.  ;D

I did indeed post it before. My point is the Aston Martin Tim and Fuzz rebuilt had SU fuel pumps and SU carburretors. I had them on my first cars, an Austin Mini and a Morris 1100. The points on the fuel pump would burn out in about 2000 miles, leaving me stranded; and the twin SU carbs on my Downton tuned 1100 needed rebalancing every 1000 miles. My fleet of 6 Omegas is so much more reliable, with fuel injection and rotary fuel pumps.
