That's my thoughts exactly! Let them chase him in the Philippines!  :y

If I do that though, any come back on me as the registered keeper?  :-\
Yes. You’re not allowed to ‘hire’ your car out.

I havn't hired the car to him, I've lent it to him.  He's on my insurance and is driving it legally.  :y

In answer to biggriffin’s “ say he hired the car”, your answer was “My thoughts exactly”  :P

I refer you to my original post.  ::)  :P

I've lent my Mondeo to a mate who lives in the Philippines while he's here visiting for a month.  :)
Just pay the fine, yer fickin criminal.  >:(

This page sums up the various options :

http://www.parkingcowboys.co.uk/keeper-liability/

Basically, if you nominate the driver then that discharges any liability on the keeper. The Parking Scammers should then start chasing the person you nominate. I don't know, but I wouldn't be surprised if the scammers are very used to people nominating foreign drivers in an attempt to avoid parking charges. If they simply dropped all such cases then by now everyone would just be naming someone abroad in order to get off.

This is civil law, not criminal, so the burden of proof is "on the balance of probability" not "beyond reasonable doubt". If the Scammers decide it's easier to persecute you rather than chase someone abroad, then my guess is that is exactly what they will do. If that happens then you'll get bombarded with threats, eventually ending with a 'summons' to court. If you don't turn up, you'll lose. If you do turn up then you'll have to convince the court that "on the balance of probability" you were not the driver.

The Scammers have 6 (Six) years to commence proceedings in court. Make sure you keep all the evidence in a safe place till that time is up.

The one thing in Tiggers favour would be that he added his friend to his insurance policy for the short time he was here, so he could prove he wasn’t a figment of his imagination.

Six years seems an unreasonable and unfair period of time to keep someone waiting for resolution, especially as in most cases the person is likely to be innocent.  >:(

Tesco in Chelmsford city centre is much the same and the machine you type into is very dim witted and slow.

Hopefully it’s not worth them pursuing if they have to send fines that far, Royal Mail charge a fortune to go that far!

If your mate is driving your car on your insurance then if you informed your insurance company of that fact somewhere would you have proof  of those dates and therefore could supply not on his address but also your insurance dates to prove it then they can chase him all of that distance. :D :D

Oh, provided that he is still on your insurance, of course.

I emailed Aldi yesterday explaining the circumstances and asked them to cancel the ticket.

Aldi have replied today saying that as a gesture of goodwill they will instruct Parking Eye to cancel the ticket!  :y
