Have we got a medal of any description yet?

Snowman building? Snowball fight? Skating in just your shoes?  :-\

Definitely not driving in snow we’d be the laughing stock ;D

Doesn't look like it

I think we almost got something in Curling, a "sport" that was invented as an alternative to watching paint dry  ::)

I believe they originally used stale haggis as a stone.

I believe we are a shoe-in for a medal in the 'driving badly in the snow' event

I reckon we'd tie with the Russians on that one, which would still be a commendable effort given how much practice they get.

I really enjoy the Winter Olympics (except the Curling!), skiing, snowboarding, bob, luge etc etc

However . . . . the amount of TV time that is just some really boring people sitting aound a table yakking is staggering. Dragging on someone who won Gold in Figure skating 40 years ago, who can contribute nothing to the conversation,  and showing old video. And the the BBC compiling touchy-feely videos with tinkling "emotional" piano music. FFS   >:(

I was amused at one stage. The backdrop to the chat table is all suitably Korean, city scenes throught a big window etc. Claire Balding asked one comentator about when she was actually leaving to go to South Korea. Till then I actually thoight they were in South Korea.

Just get on and show the competitions, even if they are repeats due to the time difference

So, BB failed to get a medal in ladies curling, bronze went to Japan.

Japan Team - Cheerful, giggly, and pleasant, and having fun

GB Team - Miserable. po faced lot who looked like they'd been sucking lemons, and that was before they were beaten.

Claire bloody Balding notwithstanding, if the Games hadn't been shown by UK broadcasters you would be moaning about how unpatriotic they all are...

We may not have won many medals, but at least we turned  up and tried...  ;)

Yes, and we do have 5 medals which is a tremendous achievement when you consider most of the successful teams in these games are full of individuals who are born with skis or snowboards welded to their feet.  Unlike our children who hardly see any snow and ice in any real quantity, the Scandavian, Germanic, Swiss, Americans, etc kids either have to get around on the stuff as soon as they can walk, or they have mountain ranges they can practice on.

That makes one hell of a difference. :y

We can usually poach someone who's grandmothers sister was born in the UK. We have Canadian boxers and tennis players who represent Great Britain, so we need to offer a few foreigners citizenship of our wonderful country.
