perigee v apogee .. its orbit is an elipse NOT a circle ..

at the moment its getting further away but when it next "swings in" it will be lower than the last time and be even more affected by the atmosphere .....

I hear it is likely to completely wipe out Barnsley.

A terrible loss to the UK. :)

Apparently a new type is being sent up to the space station for testing/experimenting which is designed to whizz about collecting the space junk that's floating about up there.

All that should be necessary is to somehow reduce the orbital speed and let these things burn up in the atmosphere on re-entry, assuming most would not reach the surface in dangerous sized pieces.
Could you get insurance, I wonder? :D

Beats British efficiency - I have something on its way from China. Its taken ArseholeForce a week for their plane to get from China to Coventry (never knew a plane could stay up for a week), and then been held up in customs for ages.

Its Arsehole Force, so will be £12 handling, plus whatever HRMC decide (which will be VAT and 2.5% import I suspect). tinkers.

I just paid the import duty on some bits from Shell Valley Roadsters in the US. £177.. not sure what I get for that £177; Mr P Hammond's undying love, maybe?
