Tech 2. Assuming the seat swap has cured the original issue...

Indeed, Airbag faults never self clear, always need physically the codes wiping to reset.

Then you either switched the ignition on part way through,  or there's a fault with the new seat  :-\

Or didn't disconnected battery beforehand.Always the best option when swapping seats.

It will bite you one day, but I suppose having access to a Tech 2 isnt so much of an issue.  :)

I'm a real wimp, I diss the Battery and then leave for 10 mins whilst drinking Tea and trying to remember where I left the Fisrt Aid Kit.  :-[

The First Aid bit is just in case I have another occurrence of smashing my Face when the Steering suddenly decides it will come off after all.   >:(  ;D

That's why you just loosen, but don't remove the nut. Or get someone else to smash them self in the face with remove the steering wheel ;)

Which seat did you replace - drivers or passengers? If it was the passengers I vaguely recollect that some models had a passenger seat occupancy detection system (maybe for a child seat??). This is indicated by the sticker on the side of the seat rail cover at the base. If the replacement seat has the other seat occupancy detection system then the airbag light will illuminate as it will think there is a fault.
Maybe others on here will tell me how accurate my memory is.....
