No idea. Think it’s historic from when the 220 was a 2.2 the 250 a 2.5 and 300 a 3.0

Could just be marketing. Neither know nor care. It’s a name.

The old E63 was 6.3 litres........which was reduced to 5.5 litres, but now an E63 is just 4 litres.

It used to be so simple. ::)
