Kwik fit...
« on: 31 May 2009, 10:23:00 »

I know the above company usually take a beating whenever anybody mentions them.
But i'd like to give them a bit of praise.
I took my car in to have the aircon re-gassed on friday.
Couldn't have been less painful.
I sat there for about half hour while they did it, and then had a bill for just £45.
Nice and easy.
Plus, i've got 20% off the next time.
So good job kwik fit. (kidderminster)  :y :y

Out of interest, did they specify how long they vaccumed the system out for - and - did they pop any dye in with the new refrigerant?

Is it much colder? Need to get my MV6 done when it's running - the aircon works, and it's cool - but probably due as a matter of course  :y

All i know is that they did the vacume check, asked me what engine size it was, and filled me up.
It does seem colder than before.

Surely it's quicker, and less messy, to just take the sump plug out?  ::)

All i know is that they did the vacume check, asked me what engine size it was, and filled me up.
My vacuum check was for 15 minutes, and some here reckon that was too quick.
As for engine size having a bearing on anything, I'm afraid it doesn't. They really should have known what type of refrigerant was required, and how much was required.

It does seem colder than before.
When mine was done, it was so cold that I had to switch it off after 10 minutes because I was on the verge of not being able to feel my fingertips (climate control on auto, fan speed at maximum).

The bottom like with Kwik Fit is that it seems to be luck of the draw. They do employ some guys who know their onions. They also employ some complete muppets whose only previous experience of cars is joy riding them when they were 14. ;)

I prefer not to take the chance, personally.
