Hi,
Any of the so called 'performance' (ie reusable) ones will do - and dont used the spray that they supply.

Changing to a cone is not recommended.
Some OOFers have induction kits fitted too.
Depends how much you want to spend I guess.

It will make it noisier, but won't improve performance.

Stick to Vx.

Guys in Poland checked K&N and standard filter on MAHA Dyno. Both installed in the same car (one after other) – tuned Skoda Octavia 1.9 TDI (ca 180 BHP).  Results? 2BHP less on K&N filter! I still have charts somewhere if you need a proof.
Standard Vx filter is the cheapest and most effective.

Problem is, this type of filter relies on the dirt retention additive to do the filtering as they have such a coarse filter medium. If you must fit such devices, use additive sparingly IMHO. My advice would be to stick with the standard filter though.

As others have said, for performance, stick to genuine GM part (and not a pattern equivilent - much smaller surface area).

If its noise, thats a different matter...

from experience the 2.0 and 2.2 ecotec sound like a farmyard machine when running on tic over, if want a good sound, advise a pannel filter and a few holes in the airbox (the PRE filtered side),
i usualy use the silver cone ones from motorworld for about 19 £ on the 3.2s gives a great sound and they pick up so much faster than standard.

That I doubt.  Unless you are comparing a new cone to a manky old pattern filter that had served its 30,000m.  Not cone can match the surface area.

i used a k&n panel filter in my connect and omega. in the connect i found it stopped using oil because the engine wasnt tring too suck from the crankcase breather. same goes for the omega. first in the 2.5td and then in the 3l. took a lot of the flat spot out as well. plus it lasts a life time [smiley=thumbsup.gif]
