« on: 25 July 2009, 16:12:21 »

I was taking rubbish to the tip this morning with my brother using his and my car and when we got there he says your motors kicking out loads of blue smoke.....All plug wells full of oil and oil level really low when i checked her over just...I cleaned the plug wells out before removing the plugs and she `s still kicking out blue smoke...Methinks she`s just give her notice that all the long drives lately have taken their toll andshe`s on her way out after 150,000miles..... :( :( Don`t need this really don`t.... >:(

150,000 is nothing on a bmw engine. What size engine is it as my uncle used to work for bmw building there race cars in the 80`s and he had one 5 series that had done 320,000 miles on it and that was on a 2.5 petrol

BMW engines are no better than any other engine. Like any engine, it should last well if properly serviced.

Problem in the last 20yrs is that:
a)BMW have aimed for the fleet market, that means silly published service intervals (like other manufacturers)
b)they are sold to estate agents and window salesmen, who have it for some kind of gay status symbol, and don't look after it, servicing it only when they stop working.

You forgot security guards as well TB...... ;D ;D ;D.....We think that 1 or 2 of valves may be at fault for oil getting through to the pistons??? if so i`ve been told forget it and get shot of it as it will not be cost effective to rebuild and also maybe a tad to old to bother.... :(
