Can't get piston rings
« on: 14 August 2009, 16:27:22 »

Need a full set of standard rings, to try and sort out the smokin' astra!

VX want near on £300 a set, which seems steep. Seen them on ebay for £80 which is more like it - but, they only have them for the X16XE an not the Z16XE which I have.

A member here sent me a link to an ebay auction for some, but they've now gone and no more in stock.

Local parts place - can't get them
Autovaux - need to make some calls

Does anyone know a good reliable supplier of rings?

Astra is using 1litre/100 miles, so it really, really needs looking at  ;D ;D

Just managed to get a Genuine VX set of std size piston rings for £72 + £10 postage  :-X :-X ::)

Seems like a result to me.... that's from autovaux. They have now redeemed themselves!  :y

Edit to add - thanks for all who supplied info :)

Looks like next weekend I'm taking pistons out  :-/

Thanks for the support mate.

I've never done them before, but end of the day, there's nothing to lose - it's clapped anyway  :y
