Cleaning Breathers on 2.2 ?
« on: 28 August 2006, 20:18:50 »

I have the feeling they have never been cleaned...

Took a look at the various pipes today, there is the fat one towards the back right, and a couple nearer the front on the drivers side.. are those the only 3?

Can't see any other pipes to remove....

Any advice?

Thanks

The bottom arrow points to a little plastic tube, check that it isn't fractured, replace if it is.

The bottom pipe is metal, there are two bolts holding it, with a gasket underneath, you may get away without replacing the gasket if you remove carefully.

Best to clamp these 2 pipes before undoing as they carry water.

Pull the grey lock towards the black stop, then the wireing loom plug (underneath) will release.

Don't forget, after removing the throttle body to put a piece of rag into the down pipe, you don't want to drop anything down it.

Lightly oil the butterfly runners, wiping off any surplus before reasembly.

Don't forget....cleanliness is next to godliness.....

I have visions of his mum shouting up the stairs "Get up you lazy sod, or the dog will have your bacon and eggs" - no wonder he's so skinny, the dog eats his food...

 ;D ;D

Funny you should say that, the Vet as commented the dog is a litte fat! ;D

All this abuse before even got up! Pah sniffing stuff?  :o

I am very good for a student, don't smoke, don't sniff stuff!  ;)

Cheers for the piccys AA  [smiley=thumbsup.gif]

I have a FULL tin of carb cleaner so i'll put that stuff to work. My facelift has felt so much better since I.. (well Jamie helped ;)) began to service it.

Although my discs and Pads are being worn in the wrong way, the brake fluid change did wonders... should be interesting cleaning the breathers.

Keeping the oil tip top (ie change more regular than you previously had) will help stop breathers from getting clogged.  Likewise for your fathers 2.2
