Oil Filters

Hi, me again.

Are there 2 different oil filters for Omega?
If so, what year/engine number did they change?

yup, you either have the metal screw on canister one, or the disposeable paper element one.

This is what the NEW type oil filter looks like:





The picture on the right shows the whole unit removed from the engine block, but keep in mind that in order to replace the paper element there is no need to remove the entire container - you simply unscrew the top lid, replace the paper element and rubber seal (supplied with the paper element), and screw back the lid and torque-tighten to 15NM.


The OLD type oil filter on the otherhand looks just like any old oil filter.... i.e. cansiter screw-on type.

Generally, they changed around V reg.  However, it is possible to get a new adapter to allow old style filter on newer cars.

And at £2 a pop cheaper, I know which I use ;)

Same here, you can eat your lunch and change the filter at the same time its that easy.

None of this jacking the car up business  ;)

2.2's maybe slower on the road, but we get there a hell of lot faster cause its quicker to service!  ;D ;)

Mine 2.2 is exactly the same speed as any V6, 20 in a 20mph, 30 in a 30mph, 40 in a 40mph, 50 in a 50mph, 60 in a 60mph and 70 in a 70mph speed limit.

At least we 2.2 owners get better millage to the gallon, and are not responsible for guzzling half the planets oil reserves just to pop down the shops !

I have the worlds most economical 2.5 on my driveway. It reckons, despite being nearly empty that th erange is still 300 odd miles...

...I need to get out there and reprogram the MID to match the engine...

If you want a seat of your pants ride, get a GT750 or similar, its like riding the worlds biggest vibrator on springs, mounted on jelly !!!

Cant see bugger all, cant hear bugger all apart from a whaling engine, cant smell bugger all apart from 2 stroke oil, have to hang on for your life, and best of all it dont stop quick, live life on the edge , ITS SUCH FUN !!!

Had the old gal up to 120 over Pitsford resovoir causeway on Sunday, its the only time i have ever crapped my pants and laughed about it !!!!

Dunno about the maintainance Jamie, if looked after you can expect 80,000 miles per re-bore !

I know of one example thats going strong on original bore and has covered over 100,000 miles !!!

They dont build em like they used to !

The big 2 strokes are reliable (though as they need to rev high for the power can also wear quickly if thrashed constantly), but all that oil gets everywhere...

My mate followed me once on his ZZR and looked like a bloody miner by the time we reached our destination, he was covered in petrol/oil mixture   ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
