If its the symbol of the engine....then it is the emissions light.....perfectly fine to drive with it on.....only a prob if it starts flashing iirc

Think you might find vx dealer closed Monday......its a bank holiday  ;)

Mine comes on and off as well....but like Martin....mine runs on lpg too.

Be worth getting the codes read......but prob just a faulty sensor.....theres 2 off them (lambda sensors)

One you can see from the engine bay.....on the exhaust pipe off the manifold (well you can on a 2.2, not sure on V6's) Other one is after the cat and 1st exhaust box ( 1st time i saw the second one today....as my meega had it wheels up in air dangling.....having an oil change)

I gave it a run today alls normal, it does sound like the sensors on the exhaust, looking briefly i found 2 one each side approx under the front seats most of the exhaust is covered with a plate so i'm not sure if there are more, maybe one is faulty.

Does anyone know where i can purchase a diagnostic kit.. it would save alot of time and worry.
Thanks all for your input.
Regards
Dave.

You could get something like this off ebay

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Opel-Vauxhall-OBD2-OBD-II-Interface-Tech2-Opel-Tech-2_W0QQitemZ160023835172QQihZ006QQcategoryZ30921QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

It looks very similar to the one I have

It should work ok on your Omega......you will need a laptop or desktop (with a long serial lead) with a serial port

It can read and reset most codes, but the software is very buggy for it.....so somethings it carnt read.....but engine codes it seems fine with (Unless anyone else has found some better software for it?)

Its cheap and cheerful, so dont expect too much......next decent code reader ive seen is about £500

Hi all, i have seen this  http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=300019125452&fromMakeTrack=true#ebayphotohosting

Do you all think this kit will do the trick on a omega 2001.

Any basic instructions of how to use it would be appreciated... I only have a desktop pc wow the lead will have to be long.

Regards dave.

Thats what we call the 'cheapo tech2 lead' - software is awful, but it *may* do what you want it to do...

Yours is OBDII, so scantool.net may be worth a look, but this only does engine. The cheapo Tech2 'does' all onboard systems (usually, though the flaky software often lets it down). I borrowed a members cheapo lead, and I did do a table of what it worked on on my 98 MV6.

On a independant mechanics diagnostic kit codes shown were 090/091 related to fuel trim...  engine light was cleared at the time of the test but lit up again a day later, so it's off to the garage.

Just a Update visited my vaux dealer today codes found -

TC P0170 Fuel trim
TC P0173 Fuel trim
TC PO100 Mass air volume flow low.

The mechanic has tested all these areas but found no fault.

The light at present is out just hope it stays that way :-? if the light  comes back on again and i have it tested another £50 and maybe for nothing.

Any ideas?

Not sure what the first two codes are but the bottom one maybe related to the mass airflow sensor.

Thanks alot i will try everything... damn light as come back on.....lol, can't understand why vauxhall could not find a fault with codes in hand, they assure me they've checked all areas concerned but all is well... weird.

I think this will be an ongoing thing if i were to find the problem and fix it would the light go out on its own or will it need to be cleared with the diagnostic kit? if i disconnect the battery will this turn off the light all be it temporary.
