Hi Guys,

As you may know I'm trying to do up my 'meega as a track car...

It's getting near that time to replace the above items.

Any thoughts on what is best to go for, for all our performance... Don't need economy, or any of that environmental clap trap, just Power.

Is it better to go VX, or after market performance parts.

Also does the DIS Pack Replacment procedure require removing the Plememememememeememmumumememe chamber?

One final thing, (it really is) the breather hoses on the V6... I know they all accumulate at that big pipe at the back of the engine....where does that big pip go to?

Can't help with the parts Vx vs Other, but I can comment on DIS replacement.

Its a right PITA to do, and it depends how skinny your arms are as access is very limited. You have to at least remove the plenum, the injector assembely can be left, although with average sized arms and hands its best to remove this too.

You will need a 8mm socket and a variety of extension bars, 1 nut is clearly visable but the rest are out of sight (4 in total) and can be done by feel only. Took me about 25 mins to remove the DIS with just the plenum off. I did this by putting a plank of wood across the engine and sitting on that for better access.

But remember I am not heavy at 10 stone and have very thin arms, hence why I replaced the DIS and our admin "TheBoy" did'nt

Forgot to add, if you can get access to a second DIS pack out of the scrappy or something it would be good. Because its very usefull to look at one as your doing the job, you can compare what you feel with what you can see.

Thanks Tunnie, that could work in my Favour.. see I'm 6ft 5in, and 24 Stone... and my wife is 5ft 7, and 8 stone.... I here you ask "so what?"

... well it means it's a job for the wife.... (after the washing up of course.... )

But seriously, that sounds like a nightmare.
Good call on the second Cheapy one.. I'll do just that.  
Am I correct in thinking it is a simple enough job then, just a b**ch to get at?

yeah basically is doddle, its just access is a pain.

Just pop off the 6 plugs that go onto the DIS, some can be a little stiff, but keep wiggling and they will pop off.

Basically if you imagine a giant lego block, bolted on the back of the engine!  

Just remembered, the DIS packs are not all the same. Some are bolted on at an angle, some straight on i think.

Don't pay anything for the DIS if you can avoid it really, its just a usefull reference. Taking it off was easy enough, putting it on was slightly harder, looking at one in front of me helped me to see what I was feeling.

There are basically 4 nuts in each corner that you need to un-do, i used one of the halfords small socket sets to remove them. Apart from the easy one which you can see the others are a b!tch really to un-do, often the movement to undo would be so small. 1 nut took me about 10 mins to undo cause it could only move the socket arm 1 click at a time, so took a while.

You might need to bribe the Mrs with something

If thats you in your piccy Zok then you will have a few problems accessing the DIS with those hands

I'll get cracking on it at the weekend.

hhhmm, well If you can remove bits of the windscreen wiper mechanism to get at it that might help with my fat fingers....
If I can't get at it useing the first method, that'll be OK, but like I said, my sausage digits may force me to use the wiper method...
