MID displays
« on: 17 July 2006, 09:21:16 »

Which display is likely to be fitted to my 97 Elite?  Mine displays the radio info, trip computer info and also the brake pad warnings etc. I can't check on my car at the moment so I was wondering what this unit should have electrical connector wise?

Anybody any ideas?

It will be a MID, but IIRC, there are two types for that with different connectors.

is there anyway of identifying which from what is displayed or does it require a look at the back of what is fitted?

Best way is to have a peek - dash comes out really easy and quick. I think its the colours of the connectors that distinguish them....

Early ones have two connectors, yellow and black, later ones have one, grey connector.

As a general rule, the later one has a seperate check indicator where as the ealrier versions spell 'check' on the screen

Later one with the grey plug then, much easier (and cheaper) to get.

It might need setting up with tech 2 if it is froma  car with a diferent size engine and/or gearbox.

Is that just a grey plug or a grey and a yellow plug?? ones I have seen have a yellow socket or a yellow socket and a grey socket.

Earlier one with orange and black connector (although interestingly its from a 98 car and has a seperate check indicator)

Judging from the above you will need to spend 5 mins checking what connector(s) you have.....
