2.5 quad cam question
« on: 16 January 2018, 18:02:08 »

Are there any week points to the cooling system on the left hand side of the V6 and if so what are they?
It’s leaking from somewhere up between the back of the exhaust manifold and fire wall and we couldn’t see exactly where

That'll be your heater valve, more commonly known as the HBV.  :y

I think it’s fair to say it’s failed! Thanks for the input, easy fix?

Fiddly to get at as it's at the back under the scuttle,but do-able easily enough.Much easier with the inlet manifold removed.

Keep your heater on hot and it will slow the leak down. Wait for warmer weather

It's not difficult to change yourself. I did one on a caravan site .... remove the wipers & the scuttle panel from below the screen & you have just enough room.

I’ll bare that in mind, I’m topping the coolant up weekly at the mo, although it could be worse

Well that rather depends...

A pint every 2,000 miles isn't bad, a gallon every 100 miles however...  ::)
