Get them to come over to the Kent side and make it a joint meet(not the wacky backy sort of course) :o and get Dave to give the Omega boys 'The Kings Shilling' and press gang them into the ABS :y show them the error of their ways,so to speak ;)

Splendid . . . not seen you for quite a while now :y
-
Hi,
Will defo be there, had it reserved in the diary since mentioning the date in a previous thread.
Will bring the modded 83k S reg gold manual 2.5cdx saloon. If the missus is not at work, I will get her to bring the standard 76k R reg silver auto 2.5reflection saloon as well.
The T reg green 3.0 manual elite saloon (with MV6 interior) is leaking oil now from the cam covers, so will shelve bringing the old drift wagon out, 141k and sounding a bit rattly after a top end rebuild following a cambelt snap a couple of years ago - newly built complete 3.0 engine to go in this winter for 2017 ;-)
My son might join us in his brand new white VXR with factory performance and leather pack, trouble is it is a Corsa E. Everyone has to start somewhere I guess ;-)
Praying for a sunshine Sunday then ...
;D :D :y

-
That will be great if you can make it,but we understand that it's an 'on the day situation' for you.The only other thing would be ......have you got parking for at least half a dozen plus Omegas, and how good are you at cooking breakfast ;) ;D

Anyone planning on booking a table as it may be getting busy?

Anyone planning on booking a table as it may be getting busy?
Got a feeling Ken has got one booked :-\
-
Have been trying for quite some time today by phone, continually engaged and when it rings they don't pick up, it appears that you can't book breakfast online >:( only lunch and dinner. But I'll keep trying. ::)
-
Not good news I'm afraid, breakfast is on a first come, first served basis, and I've just been told by them that the time we want to come in,is their peak time and it's going to be difficult. The lady also told me that 10.30 is the cut off time on a Sunday. The only time that she suggested was at 8 a.m when they could probably fit a large party in.So it's looking iffy, will have to leave this one with you guys,I'm afraid. :'( The only alternative...would be the jungle café,if it's still open, Mark will possibly know on that one, if not things are not looking good :-\

Usual patter from the staff Ken . . . they are overworked /under staffed,( as we see at the last meet here) would not worry about it too much . If we are there for 10am sharp or a bit before , should be ok IMO. But Sundays are the busiest day for Toby's.
We could always have a carvery lunch from 12 onwards if we cannot be accomodated, but my feeling is it will be ok. We'll just have to save a seat for Nick ;)
I did not pursue trying to book a table or two , as you never know who is going to turn up on the day . We have had a few late pull outs recently . . . they all say thay are coming . . .& then in the final week we start getting retractions ::) ::)
Lets just go with it . . . as don't fancy The Jungle Cafe personally . . .but i will go with the flow :y
-
What about Nells café next exit down the A2
-
Nell's cafe does a nice breakfast and I always found the staff friendly
-

Cannot comment on that as I'm over in Essex . . . . . what about parking ?
My opinion is that it's too near the date to start swapping venues :-\
Usual format with meets on here is . .we decide where & when & stick with it
But as I said in an earlier post on this thread . . I will go with the flow
If it's gonna be changed . . .then do it ASAP ;)

I am more than happy to stay with the original but as it has been said it will be busy and may not be able to cater for us just a thought though what about if we all still meet up at the original venue but if it can't take us then go on to Nell's as it is a very good café and plenty of parking too. Its only around a mile away at the next exit on the A2

As Nitro would say "sounds like a plan" . . . but IMO there will not be a problem at the Toby if we are there for 10am . . .Nick excused of course ;)
We are not looking to seat a "coachload" . . in fact I cannot remember a previous Kent meeting where there has been more than around a dozen attendees ::)
May be a few more this time , who knows ?
At this Toby some tables seat 6 but most tables are for four. will we be able to get tables together for all ? . . .who knows . But have breakfast & then we can mingle around the cars in the car park after that . . .
Thats my tuppence worth on it anyway ;D ;D ;D
-
I expect to be there at 10, rather than for 10. If you grab a table as soon a few people turn up, I'll join you all as soon as I can.

But obviously A2 gonna be much busier than normal ::) ::)

I'm from Essex . .so not a clue . . . relying on local knowledge from you Men of Kent
Alarming Man Mark posted it up saying closed . . .He's never usually wrong & he lives near by
Also . .I did mention it in the office this morning & a guy who lives over there in your neck of the woods said warning signs were up . . . :-\ :-\
but should not affect my trip to the Toby as straight down the A2 from the bridge :y :y
-
I'm wondering wether it will affect the southern approach from the M25,because that will be the way we are coming in from. :-\
-
Don't know if this will help, Ken :y
http://www.trafficdelays.co.uk/m20-traffic-delays/
-
Cheers Tony,
reading through the list,it seems these closures are a mix of lane closures and full nightime closures,no mention of it affecting the M25.....but that might be a little surprise that those teewats at the Highways Agency have overlooked, because as we all know that their ability to organise a piss up in a brewery is beyond their remit! Will keep an eye on today's M25 antics as Saturday's are a PITA usually and if it turns into chaos, then there is an ABS breakfast meet tomorrow on the Essex side which I usually attend when possible,so that could be an alternative for me if it's going to be a struggle Kent side :-\ Personally I think because as we have got to be there around 9.30 then I would think what ever is happening there shouldn't be to much of a problem :-\
-
Honestly guys, that time of the morning should be fine for everyone.
Nobody moves much on the A2 until after 11am on a Sunday anyway as that is when Bluewater opens.
-
Ian beat me to it.
The A2 will be the diversion, so traffic will be heavier than normal. But that's unlikely to affect your journey times on a Sunday morning.
-
>:( >:( >:( >:( just back frm a trip to Southend . . taking some stuff in doors . .
noticed a pool of coolant forming under front of car . . . Bol*oc*$
Looks like water pump failure as forming on top of sump below crank pulley & then
dripping down onto floor. Also have a rumbling sound from front of engine (water pump area)
Just what I needed the day before a meet >:( >:(
Will post up how this will affect my attending asap :'( :'( :'(
-
There is still time to source and fit a water pump. ;)
-
looks like only one lane closed motorway still open it where the bridge was pulled down by the truck with the digger on it so won't affect me as come off at bluebell hill turning ken just continue around the M25 to the M2 then you will miss it
-
Re: water pump failure on the CDX today . . .won't be able to attend tomorrow :'( :'( :'(
Would have come over in SWMBO's Focus . .but she is working 8am -4pm :'( :'(
Sorry guys . . . & of course it don't make me feel any better when I had a little grizzle
earlier in the week , about people pulling out near the meet date :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[
Apologies again :(
-
Were coming from the M3 direction, last time we came I just followed the M25 around as if I was heading up to the Dartford crossing and peeled off at the A2. :-\

That is the only sensible route unless the A2 is shut.

I refer the right honourable gentleman to my previous post, pointing out that Highways and the various contractors involved are basically f**k wits and need a severe butt f***ing!!! :o

-
As above, nice to meet a few of you again.
Definitely up for a meet at Nells Cafe next time.
-
Defo up for the next meet.
Some nice motors there. Not sure some of Toby Carvery clients knew what the cars were LOL . I know my son's VXR wasn't a mig but he is from the VX camp.
Will try to get the missus to bring the '97 reflection to the next meet.
A real petrol head sesh and a damned good breaky.. Shame it closed for lunch ;-)
Thanks to Nick for the crankshaft seal and 2 pack paint advice.
Off to the man cave for some more mig antics ...
-
Sorry that I could not get there due to my medical condition. Sounds like you all had fun. I hope to get to one of these breakfast runs soon take care everyone
-
It's nice to get amongst like minded people, and it's not always about the cars and more about a catch up.We hadn't seen Mark (The Alarming Man) for a while due to his work commitments, and was looking forward to seeing wether HooverMig had finished his supercharged Omega, and although it's happening it's ongoing. Also a new face Ollie3.0v6 received a tutorial from NickW on how to clean the breathers etc,and also it was nice to see Kevinp58 an Omega man who like me has a foot in the V8 camp and has a very nice Monaro also.It was a shame that Big Al's plan to come went belly up at the last moment, and James (baggedestate) hope your football injury gets better soon, and a lesson to be learnt here......stop playing those rough dangerous ball games and get your car finished instead ;D :y

TAG! You're it!
The way this works is this; you've brought it up first, so you get to arrange a date/location.
Pick both, tell us where/when and those of that can will turn up.
-
Aha....so it looks like a December meet. Keeping fingers crossed on this one, as I have not heard swmbo say anything about December activities :y
We are in Dorset until the 8th, then back until Christmas ;)

Hi Guys,
Definitely up for another meet in December 2016. Thanks to NickW who quite rightly pointed out , go to ECP Strood and they will sort out the incorrect front crank Rover seals which head office ECP had been sending through. All sorted now, thanks to Strood ECP , thumbs up lads. 3.0 track engine build now in progress (gasket/seals parts bin nearly fully populated) for Lydden Hill in May next year. The elves will be busy in the garage approaching Christmas ;-).
Where is Nells cafe?
