Lake District-ish is fine by me, weekend camping (Fri/Sat) is also OK.  Easy to do a bit of walking or sightseeing as well as partaking of a dry sherry or two of an evening in friendly company, without a jukebox or darts match in the local pub to disrupt the gags.

Reasonable driving roads there and back (excluding M6) for me, centralish location for most?

Is it worth getting a list going of who, when and where the person is from so we can find somewhere central :) ie

One of these could be a possible for me but I'll need to check and see if the sprogs have broken up from school by then.  ;)
All I will need to do then is convince SWMBO that Carlisle is a good place to spend all day shopping.   :-[
5 - 6 hour drive for me to the lake district ...... so put me down as a possible.  :y
