Having got the car fixed, I recon its time to meet the faithful, and get cruise enabled!  ;D Any meets local, or even not so local ( I travel down to Leicester fairly frequently, so in that area OK) I am interested. :y :y

What would be very interesting is : remember my car died a short while back, the dealer said it was the ECU that was faulty, I got a spare ECU and reader, he fitted them and it all worked. Well not quite, the work sheet says they failed to code my existing key to the reader and had to fit a new transponder chip. Could this whole episode have been due to the transponder chip going faulty, and the ECU going into its tamper/lockout mode ?. I still have the original ECU, reader and transponder chip, it would be interesting to refit them and use Tech 2 to see if it was an imobiliser problem after all.

easy to see if transponder still works...   ...never heard of ecu going into any tamper mode though...

Hi,
Sorry its to do with programing new keys, according to this site http://www.vezerdiagnosztika.hu/"My Naff Code Reader"_immobiliser_guide.pdf the ECU goes into a lockout mode if the wrong code is entered. What do you think would happen if the transponder chip died while the car was being driven ?. Would it go in to a limp mode and then die totally ?.
