ANOTHER OOF MEET WALES BORDER ANYONE??
« on: 29 June 2007, 15:43:44 »

Just been thinking about another OOF weekend Aug/sept time and wondered if anyone was interested? Have ran it by THE BOY who is keen, and suggest i post it up and gain an idea of the interest from others, so here goes. I know the Wye Valley very well, and also a very nice campsite just outside Monmouth where we could have most of the pitches to ourselfs in one area, depending on numbers obviously, it is in a great setting, and rallies are very welcome and a couple of late nights wont disturb anyone and it is easy to get to, being just a couple of miles of the M50, so this would be a great chance for our west country friends, along with those around the bristol area and all you in Wales to meet up with the rest of us, of course that dos'nt mean those from further afield would not be welcome, the more the merrier :y. I know the trip to this very campsite takes about 1hr 45min from junction 24 of the M1 at the correct speed ::) just for a rough guide to those who may be interestd, and about 45min from the M5/m50 junction. Anyway i will leave it to everyone to have a think about and let me know what you think.
Cheers, Jez

I like the idea, and it will be nice to meet a few of the Welsh/West country members who haven't made it to the other meet ups.

Presumably this will be a family friendly affair, Wives and kids etc welcome?

Would also be interested, date dependant.  August may well be a wee bit warmer than September, but towards the middle/end of the month, perhaps?  If t'other half can come up with an excuse for the Friday to get finished early, that would certainly make it more 'doable' for us rather than a late night trek ......   :y

1h45m from J24 of the M1 at WHAT speed?!  :o

Striking distance for me.  We may end up with other plans for the bank holiday.  Keep me posted though.

Sounds like a good idea. Does the camp site allow caravans? Thats rolling road blocks to The Boy ;)

May be going to Bristol at the end of August so we could make a weekend of it and kill two birds with one stone.

Been busy this weekend and just caught up with the replies. In answer to some questions, yes caravans are welcome here as are SWMBO's  ;D I will add the link to the site for peoples perusal and if enough are interested then i will make further enquires. http://www.caravancampingsites.co.uk/monmouthshire/bridge.htm
Hope this has worked. My only no no date would be the weekend nearest to the 22nd aug as it is my daughters 18th...............i know it seems impossible that someone as youthful and young looking as myself could possibly have a daughter of 18 but its true  ::)
