Omega General Help / Manual gear stick assembly
« on: 18 November 2020, 09:47:04 »
Hi guys, I bought another Omega but it has broken safety "reverse ring" on manual stick. As far as I know, this can't be fixed so the solution is to replace entire manual stick from top to the bottom linkage.

Does the job include only 4 bolts accessible from under the + the linkage or is it more to the job?

Thanks in advance

Omega General Help / Missfire
« on: 28 September 2020, 07:27:16 »
Hi guys, got a missfire yesterday evening, I checked the codes first and got 12, 31, 129
I believe I can smell a bit of gasoline from the engine bay.
Spark plugs replaced 30.000 km ago + the shortest coil broke and was replaced at that time.
It's a FL 2.5 V6
Any ideas before I start removing plenum?

Omega General Help / How long will HBV last?
« on: 27 February 2020, 21:04:09 »
Hi guys, omega has had a slight coolant leak for as long as I remember. I added some UV dye two years ago into the coolant and found an oil cooler leak so I replaced it at the same time as the cambelt and tensioners yet coolant leak was still there - slightly smaller but still noticeable.
Well two weaks ago leak became worse so I replaced the usual suspect - HBV and woila no leak!  Happy days I
 thought :-\
The leak is back, half of the expansion bottle every 300 miles :-[
Could it be that a replacement HBV failed so soon? It's FEBI branded.

I added some UV dye today again to track the leak

Omega General Help / Leak somewhere and carpet removal
« on: 18 November 2019, 10:27:14 »
Hi guys, my omega has developed a leak somewhere, there's a pool of water behind the driver's seat and the driver's  footwell is also wet. Scuttle is clean - I poured two gallons of water down the front window and it all came down along the chasis leg where the drain is. Pollen filter is dry, car has no sunroof.
How big of a job is it to remove the carpet?
It will need to dry until spring considering the amount of water in it... :'(

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / New key + remote
« on: 01 August 2019, 09:34:16 »
Hi guys, is there any way to obtain new key and remote for omega?
I had an appointment with locksmith today, but he couldn't connect to Omega's computer.
My opinion on this is it could be because it's FL model with older V6 using older version of management program on new body style with remote boot opening... :-X
So after that I went to Opel dealer and after some search they told me the key or remote can not be bought anymore.
Any ideas? My remote is FUBAR , not only switches or battery holder...it's done. And it's the only key and remote I have.
My fear is that one day door lock could stop working and then I won't  be able to get into car.
Thanks in advance, Stan

General Car Chat / Literally saved me a week
« on: 08 May 2019, 12:46:44 »
My Omega needed an oil change, first one after cambelt, oil cooler and coolant change in january. I somehow suspected trouble, since oil filter housing was taken of and put back by a "mechanic" to whom I told very clearly to NOT overtighten the cap :-X >:( Yes, you guessed it.
When I drained the oil today, replaced the seal and cleaned everything I went to change the oil filter and after a lot of
cursing and swearing managed to undo the cap...so I thought ::) Filter housing was the only thing spinning.
After a few minutes it finally spun out of place without a need of heavy duty hammer.
Just as a precaution I ordered oil filter conversion part and loctite for threads last week....like I knew I'll be needing that ;D
So job jobbed in an hour instead of waiting for parts and being stranded without a car :y

After the work I put filter housing in a vice and tried to take a cap off...won't even budge, like it's welded on.

Omega General Help / Driver's door won't close
« on: 28 March 2019, 16:21:25 »
As above....just bounces back. I'm on my way to work by train now, car will spend the night unlocked on a parking lot :-[
Did it happen to anyone? Do parts from MFL fit to FL because I believe I still have door mechanism from previous omega somewhere in garage :-\

General Car Chat / A week has passed
« on: 30 December 2018, 07:49:03 »
A week has passed since I started to disassemble my omega due to cambelt change. Last night I put her back together with a help of a  friend mechanic, who kindly provided me his ""work" car for that time - Honda 1.6 VTI, which almost killed me a few times :-X....FWD just isn't for me ;D
It's just shocking to realize how smooth and comfortable it is to drive an Omega again. I love this car.
We replaced cambelt, all tensioners, aux belt, oil cooler which was leaking, cam covers for aluminum ones, oil, etc....
She's as good as new, no leaks or anything wrong with her for now, I'm happy with the result.
It really means much, when you can work on your own car with a mechanic and he's listening to some advices on how to do things - from this forum guides.
I can't imagine how the work would be done if I just took Omega to dealer's garage and tell them to do this and that....I believe omega would came back full of radiator seal liquid and belts freshly wiped aux belt followed by huge
bill for "all the work they did" :-X They're all the same
Well she 's done, drives like a dream and I plan to keep her for at least 5 years.
Thank you for all your help guys :y

Omega General Help / Torque settings
« on: 23 November 2018, 10:12:45 »
I've  just bought a set of Vectra alloy cam covers after replacing three pairs of plastic ones over the years.
Does anyone know if torque settings for alloy covers are the same as for plastic ones?
The plan is to replace them next month because it's already cambelt time.
Thanks in advance, Stan

Omega General Help / Cambelt change side jobs
« on: 20 August 2018, 14:05:02 »
Hi guys, I'm planning to do a cambelt job in week or two, have all the parts already bought and in garage.
I'm thinking about replacing both sensors screwed into coolant radiator while I'm there as they seem to be hard to reach without all the air hoses out.
I know one sensor is a fan switch but I don't know what the other is for..?
And does anyone have part numbers for those sensors?
Thanks, Stan

General Car Chat / Part number or at least a name
« on: 04 July 2018, 21:37:50 »
Hi guys, I'm without my Omega this week due to rust repair - replacement of both rear panels.
I'm searching for part number or at least a name of the black piece of protection that is glued on the body panel and
is hidden when the door is shut. It follows the rear arch line from cill covers toward the lock on the panel.
Curently searcing for a pic of it :-\

Omega General Help / Alloy cam covers
« on: 06 June 2018, 18:44:53 »
Can't get those anywhere. I'm planning to repair rusty rear panels  this month followed by cambelt change and everything that goes with it, oil cooler too....I'll see if I'll replace leaking AC compressor ....long story short - if anyone has Veccy's  alloy cam covers just laying around for affordable price it would be the right moment to change them while I have it all appart.
