Resyncing ir remote helps with range/reaction?
« on: 27 November 2018, 16:47:48 »

Hi. Of my 3 Omegas 2 have the old infrared remote Control system. A 95 car thats in daily use had recently started getting difficult to unlock. Assumed remote battery, but changed that with no effect. Had to keep remote right up to the window and push the button 5-10 times before the car reacted. Remote was bought new from Opel (and programmed)  some years back so its in far better condition than the original 94-95 remotes. First thought was that either the remote or the receiver in the car was starting to fail. But tried resyncing it with ignition on and remote close to the dome in the roof. Car reacted as it should by flashing the interior light. Much to my surprise the remote worked just fine afterwards. Car unlocks/locks on the first push of the button.
Always thought that either the remote was in sync or out of sync so to speak. That it either would work or not work. Can anyone explain why a ir remote that only works like 1 of 10 pushes after resyncronising suddenly works every time? Can they fall partly out of sync?

Possibly a side effect of interference or low voltage :-\
