Over the last few days we have seen a lot of cars with skiing equipment held on the roof by "magnets".

What happens if you do an emergency stop?

Never mind that. They must be very powerful magnets so what happens if you've had a hip replacement? Do you start levitating towards the roof of the car? And metal fillings in your teeth? If grandma starts slurring her words, get her out.

Aren't replacement joints made from materials like stainless steel and titanium? Long lasting, durable and rustfree?

I know my old bike tankbag was only held on with magnets, and that was good for at least double the UK speed limit.  Granted, its not in the main airflow, but even with old fashioned laptops it never moved.
