You seem to be having a lot of trouble with your Jag TB?  ???  :-\
Not quite as much as you are with the beemer :P

Usual shit, having to deal with all the bodges from dealers and garages.  This one has made what should be a nice, easy, quick job into a PITA.

It'll be rear tyres next, they are starting to look sorry for themselves, at a smidgeon over 2mm.

Had two front tyres fitted to the front of the go cart...

It can now achieve motorway speeds without feeling like the front is about to shake off :D

Went to swap the drop links for new ones whilst they were changing the tyres... Failed miserably... ;D So retightened the one undone nut and drove it home. I did at least confirm that one of them is totally Donald.

Contemplating doing the service on it, but the dog looks like she wants a walk ::)

Well dog got walked...

So far, pollen filter and air filter both changed. After half an hour trying to get the wipers to clear each other, I need to modify the end of the lower one. Apparently the designers hadn't allowed for an extra 0.005 mm clearance on the return sweep to enable aeroblades to not collide ::)

Found a split breather hose, which explains the slightly high idle.
Throttle body removed and cleaned, was minging, now shiny.
Concluded that all the oil over the cam cover and end of the block was all coming from the split hose rather than, as suspected, the cam cover seal... And thought great, no need to remove the inlet fanimold to change that :) only to remember that the oil filler and breather neck are both full of mayo ::)

Time for another beer.  :D

Apparently the designers
This is on your Mercedes?

You should know by know that MB do not use designers, just a team of catalogue browsers to randomly locate parts and throw them together.

Well carried on where I left off...

Manifold is a fiddle to get at the rear bolts, but straightforward enough. Cam cover is only bolts and easy to get at. Glad I bothered, although I wish I hadn't  :'(

Scraped about half a kilo of black crusty shite from it. Took nearly four hours to clean the breathers through  :o

Figured whilst I had a clear run at them, I would pop the coil pack off and swap the plugs. Or not >:( Cannot for the life of me get the coil pack off the plugs. Both bolts removed, but got nowhere beyond about 2mm of stretch on the boots.

Almost back together, just the air box and throttle body to go.

Threw a can of engine flush in and took it for a blast to warm it up. Promptly drained about 4 litres of molasses out of it, popped a fresh filter in along with 4.5 litres of GM's finest :D

Had another go at getting the coil pack of... Heat does wonders... Now has four fresh plugs in it too. Only the fuel filter and coolant left and it's had it's long overdue B service.

Sounds and goes well for 170k 8)

Washed it. Noticed a foot long crack in the windscreen which wasn't there yesterday. Might have been the cold water from the pressure washer hitting the hot screen.  ::)
Oh well, I have been meaning to have a new screen fitted anyway.  ::)

Now its cooling down a bit Im going back out to clean the inside of the windows and vacuum the interior.

This happened to me a few years ago when I thought it would be a good idea to chuck a bucket of water over my dusty windscreen on a hot day.  :(

I do all the work on the family cars ,having not trusted work done by garages in the past ,

all the family drive vauxhalls with the exception of one ......
a 2002 picasso hdi   ::) he insists on driving it  :-X
few weeks ago the clutch went
had a quick look to diagnose , he needed the picasso working again in a hurry ,so it was recovered to a local cluych place ,who quoted £350 ish done for next day
i took him to collect it ,
they said the gearbox casting needed replacing too due to the casting being cracked ,another 389 quid  :o
I went outside and looked ,old casing with 16 years of dirt on it
went and asked , "not new ,reconditioned " they said , "so where is the old cracked one" i said ,
and when people recon gear boxes ,they clean them at least ,some paint them
we could not prove they did not fit a recon box or casting , so he had to pay the extra £389 to get the car back .

UPDATE
the crapasso now has bad clutch judder when the clutch is depressed  ???
no judder when the clutch is fully pressed,no judder when engaged .just mid clutch action

It's going back to the clutch specialist first thing tomorrow
I won't be going with it due to another commitment

invoice states 18 months warranty on clutch and 12 months warranty on the "recon " gearbox
It will be interesting to see what they have to say
they replaced the clutch kit complete ,fork, slave, and gearbox ,
I did pull the covers and remove the aux belt to make sure the harmonic damper(well known crapasso issue) etc was not at fault.
the only part not invoiced was the flywheel , if it was good enough to fit a clutch kit to a month ago , I can't think they will try and say it needs skimming, but i suspect they will try and pass the blame to a non replaced part  /try getting more money  ::)

wish I'd done the job myself now  :P

Well. Held vac. And pressure. Nice and cold again!  Was sure it was gonna need a condenser!  Still dyed up too if it doesn’t last.
