drive belt
« on: 13 October 2018, 21:39:30 »

today I had to have recovery get me home. the drive belt came off. it hadn't snapped but on inspection it had stripped off half of its ribs. I haven't a clue why but for the last couple of days I thought that I detected a humming noise. all pulleys appear ok on initial inspection, but will check more closely tomorrow. any ideas of what may have caused it. my last aux belt change was mid April.  :-\

You'll never know now, but it's easy to misalign a groove of the belt with one of the pulleys' grooves ....

I may have done that . the way the belt is stripped of its grooves there is something amiss

its absolutely peeing down here so I have just braved getting soaked to look at the tensioner. pulley wheel is stuck solid. so have had a look at new a new one.  queer at Andrew page that part is dearer than a complete tensioner.

I have had a couple fail, and now regrease the pulley bearings every 2 years. But you say in post 2 that this was new in April, if so it should not have failed yet.
