I think its had to become "the first with the money"...  ...rightly or wrongly

I live and learn.

And no I can't reclaim the money, its a Bank transfer not paypal, you will have to make a payment to me. I paid by bank transfer, a bit more complicated,  so you wouldn't have any paypal fees.

...they may be sold to someone else.

Elite pete was selling some facelift parts, after some messages I agreed to buy a pair of mirrors off him, on the 27th may. He replied with payment details on the 28th. I had a busy weekend, and finally set up payment to his bank as requested on the 6th june. I got a message today saying he had sold them to someone else on the 31st.

What is the mileage ?. You are supposed to change belt, tensioners and water pump every 40K miles. It is possible the water pump shaft has broken but might still be in place, and the belt has jumped a few teeth, which may stop it firing. I would not tempt fate and avoid turning over until I had checked the timing and anything else. The tensioners seem to pack up before the belt goes. I would get cover off, forget battery or slackening alternator, its really easy and quick to get the cover off a 4 pot, and then look at what you have. Broken bits, water pouring out from where, bits of bearings ?. If all looks OK, turn over until TDC, watching cogs etc and check timing.

Best of luck  :y

Also chatting to my friend at work on this.

He has asked if the 2.2 Ecotec engine is a non interference engine ... can anyone confirm this?

Also he has an idea that the water may be coming from the water pump as has been talked about here and that the water is running through the timing belt cover down to the crank shaft pulley which is where the water appears (but to be confirmed) as coming out from behind ... but will know more soon on this ...
Nope

Thanks RobG.

Not to put too fine a point on it ... bugger! :)
Hopefully it`s just the waterpump let go

If the waterpump shaft has broken, then its time for new valves  :'( :'(
When mine went, there was some water loss as the pump front bearing was stuffed.

Just a thought. Its lack of electrical energy causing the problem. Well connect a tow rope, and an electrical feed from the towing vehicle to the one being towed. if you use the cigar socket its fused at 10A (?) so you won't overload the towing vehicle, and 5-6 amps should be enough to run the sparks for the towed car. Provided you don't use lights or wipers, only essential stuff you should make it.

Hope it's a proper one with valves in. :P

Sorry no valves on this one...............However I got an Orange PA amp to be fixed some time. Its been in a garden shed for some time  ;D. Its all valve, I guess 120W. And someone gave me a Marshall Valve 10W (?) PA amp which is now behaving itself. ::)

Thanks for the offers of help with pickup, however I need to just do this, fill up the car with LPG  :y and head off, prob on friday after work. I spent a chunk of last week trying to organise pickup, I could get it shipped for about £15 but they can't say what part of the day they will go, so no use, and I am gonna slip the seller an extra £10; he really got a bad deal, these normally sell for a lot.

Golden rule here, DONT SELL THINGS THAT END OVER A HOLIDAY WEEKEND. Most people are worrying about going away, not bidding on stuff. :P  Talking of which there could be a few bargains next weekend.......

The pound seems of less value these days. The local petrol station still has petrol at 137.9, whereas tesco has it 5p cheaper. On an empty tank that's 65L or £3.30 which is significant to me but plenty people fill up there.

Times they are a changing.........  ( off to play Bob Dylan track )

I came home from work one friday, totally p155ed off, no matter how much effort I put in the job seems to grow and I get extra stuff to do to make up for someone who......., no, not on an open forum  :-X

So A couple of cans to relax, thinking how could I relax more at work, well I have recently moved the repair/test facility to a larger room at the bottom of the factory so I could take the guitar in and practise at lunchtimes. Mmm another can, I could do with an amp, something classy, a quick look on fleabay, plenty bargains, look Marshall amps currently no or 99p bids, great so I stick a few quid on, you know you are not going to win a Marshall for a few quid, so you stick a £5 on here, a £5 on there etc.

I woke up on Sat morning to read the Email " congratulations hope you enjoy your Marshall amplifier..."  :o :o :o Oh Sh1T..... what have I bought  :o :o

However a Marshall 150W amp for £2.50 is not bad.........Trouble is I got to go down to Norfolk to pick it up  ;D ;D ;D

haven't they learned to seal them yet ?. A simple sheet of plastic would probably do. A cheap $5 watch from china is sealed against water, why not a £300 phone ?.

I was the 'shepherd' car in the Jeep, unfortunately with it being an auto I could not tow it, hence joining the AA......I stopped using them years ago after pay for year after year without use, never mind, peace of mind.

Well from the caravan (Static) to our local independent 47 miles, fully charged the battery before setting off, that said the light went off a couple of times.............very pleased it is back home without incident, should be fixed tomorrow..... :y :y :y

you can tow an auto, for a limited miles at a limited speed. The AA towed me back when the waterpump shaft broke, causing the belt to jump, bending a few valves...........

Its something to do with lubrication of the gearbox parts not happening in neutral.

Omega General Help / Re: Damaged brake pipes
« on: 27 May 2012, 11:37:56 »
It might be easier to replace the entire pipe, although the ends might be seized. I got a pipe flaring kit and have been making my own pipes for years, its fairly easy, I used a copper based pipe so its easy to bend to shape. A lot easier than trying to flare a pipe leaking fluid under the car. I used old fittings to make up a collection of "stop ends" so I can seal off lines while fitting new pipes.
