I'm trying to replace my water pump,
but i'm stuck at the fan and have been for 4 hours..... >:(
I'm at the point of actually destroying my car with a lump hammer because i'm so wound up.

I have my 32mm open spanner....but for the life of me i cant find a way to brace the water pump.
No matter how i do it.....just cant do it,

I'm bleeding from every knuckle...
My patience is thinner than the skin on my knuckles now...

I've tried wd40....i've tried releasing the nuts on the pulley slightly and using a spanner to brace them.

BENT THE NUTS, so now i need new ones of those too...
 Someone please help.

I need the car in 4 hours to drive to my girlfriends for her birthday...and i need it fro work on saturday..

I WILL NOT PAY a garage to do this job when it is just one nut holding me back

Omega General Help / 2.5td water pump gone?
« on: 22 March 2011, 15:25:13 »
Just parked up now and have lots of water on floor instantly.
Seems to be from behind or above the drive for the viscous fan.

Is this the water pump?

Difficult job?

Literally the last thing I need right now.

Omega General Help / Squeaky pulley or tensioner 2.5td at idle
« on: 21 March 2011, 13:32:49 »
Its driving me mad!  :D

Being a diesel its Camchained up, so i know its something ro do with the AUX belt.
I have no A/C, so thats out,

There's still a few more things it loops itself round, one of which i assume is a tensioner.
I'm not sure which of the wheels it goes around is squeaking, and they are under too much tension normally (and in such an awkward position, to really be able to get a good feel on em to see if they have any play.

Any ideas how to cure it....besides WD40......already tried.....worked for about 20mins......i think

« on: 05 March 2011, 16:58:52 »
Just wanted to say WOW! And thank-you to those who hooked me up with chip guy.

I've had chipped turbo diesel cars before, so I knew.what to expect, but this is beyond that lol. Great fun when needed.

It's a plus 10, so plenty of poke.

Omega General Help / Running on Veg oil? doable?
« on: 18 March 2011, 00:18:05 »
I'm thinking of running a blend of Veg oil. seeing as its £1 a litre in the supermarkets by me....

savings to be had

what do people reckon?

I know about it needing to be either well mixed with diesel, or preheated, but from a practical aspect is it viable.
I'd be happy to chuck in 50% veg when i fill up.
Will be a good saving over the whole tank.

Omega General Help / Is this a worn wishbone bush?
« on: 16 March 2011, 17:26:11 »
HAd a good poke around with the wheels off (now i've mashed and destroyed the fabled locking wheels nuts lol).

And have discovered what i think is the source of my tyre wear.
I also replaced the NSF track road end, because i'd already bought it. And it was easy to do lol.

take a look, and just confirm if it is.
Then i'll order the wishbones asap and get them fitted.

cheers

This is an image of the left hand side of the engine (Off side if facing forwards  :-/)

Its a loose pipe, cant find anything its supposed to connect to, and its just flailing about.
It LOOKS like it should be connected to some kind of vacuum system, similar to the one that cam off my old rover's wastegate or EGR valve actuator?

this the right lines?
 thanks

Omega General Help / Thought i'd blown up the TD
« on: 08 March 2011, 02:54:52 »
Was out having a nice "spirited" country lane run in the Chipped Mig and POW, all power lost and lots of black smoke....I thought oh crap, what's broke and how much is it going to cost me lol!

Popped bonnet, intercooler hose had popped off the Intake manifold at the front!.
Popped back on (tightened up properly) and its fine again.

PHEW!

Omega General Help / front tyres wearing on inside?
« on: 01 March 2011, 18:27:37 »
Hi,
Just wondering whether this is something simple like tracking,
Or something more sinister like wishbones?

It's both front tyres wearing on the inside shoulder.

Thanks

« on: 25 February 2011, 13:01:36 »
Just brought this up in another post, but thought i'd attract the right attention in this post.

Want to know what people think the best oil for the 2.5td at 112k is?
Just had it changed because it was due, but want to know what to put in it for the next one.

thanks

Omega General Help / Oil + filter change costs
« on: 25 February 2011, 11:08:30 »
Hi,
I couldn't be bother doing it myself in the rain with no ramps or garage etc,

So took it to local garage where i've had somethings done before on other cars and asked them if they could fit me in for a change.
They said straight away and i asked how much?

Only £25 with my own filter, or £30 if they supplied it.
Seems pretty reasonable to me, if anything, really cheap!

Just wondered about those who don't change their own oil, and how much you pay?
thanks

i might end up doing it myself next time, but while the weather is this crap i will NOT be getting my hands dirty lol.

thanks

Omega General Help / Things to look out for on a 2.5td
« on: 21 February 2011, 10:29:22 »
Hi,
Just joined the forum, having bought a 2.5td estate.
Was going to buy a 525 but the insurance is RIP. so that's out the window.

Always had a thing for the Omega anyways, so this works out just fine.

Just wanted to know what are the main things i should either check or look out for as a diesel driver.
I'm used to diesel engines, as much as i am to petrols. So thats not too much of a problem.

Thanks
