The repair plates dont even come  close to fitting in the door gap....and no nuts for the hex bolts....

oh, and they would only let me buy the white washers in packs of 5 lol

ok well now i've read it again i see why i'm finding this so confusing.

besides shortening and rounding the plates (my bad)..

My check strap has actually completely detached from whatever was holing it before....So mmy confusion regarding nuts etc is well founded.

i juts have the check strap bar, going into the door...attached to nothing at all. No backing, no mechanism.

hence not knowing why there were no nuts included.

the door metal is all torn up and there's barely a hole left for the torx to go through.....let alone anything else.

Looks like it's going to be a little more complicated.

you need to see what you have left regarding the check strap when you get the door card off. Mine was in bits in the bottom of the door, but often you'll find it's OK but with bits of the door still fastened to it. My door had ripped right through, but a reinforcing plate either side of the door skin has been enough to bodge a repair over the last few years.  ;) ;)

Apart from an excess of white washers, the bits you have are, to my recollection, what you need to effect a repair.

The screws are longer than the originals (or should be) and the order of assembly, from inside the door towards the pillar is,,,

Checkstrap base, repair plate 1, ripped door frame metal, repair plate 2 then screws.

It all gets squished together where the repair plates sandwich the remains of the door into something resembling the solid.

You are pretty much rubber ducked if the housing for the plastic bush is pulled away from the A pillar.  If thats the case, its really a door removal job to give sufficient access to weld it up, carefully to stop burning inside the pillar and the car, then reassembly.   :y

edit to add - the screws screw into the checkstrap base thus no additional nuts (should be) required.

Think i didnt make myself clear.

There is no check strap "base".........
Nothing for them to screw into, this was my point, and the reason i was confused.

the chassis attachment is fine. not pulled away or anything.

Inside the door, there is nothing on the end of the metal rod...at all

In that case, you also need a new checkstrap.   :y

OK  ;)
Check strap isn't on Trade Club, but your dealer may give you ordinary trade prices.
Depends how much your scrap yard wants when you consider what the cost of new one.  :-/ :y
